OKay, to start of, I am currently enrolled in a nursing program, I joined the class about 1 week late. I found out yesterday that we were being drug tested randomly. I am a very heavy smoker, but, I make "A"s and I am the head of my class. We were sitting around waiting on the teacher to get back yesterday and the classroom phone rings. One of my fellow stundents answers the phone like she is the teacher. The lady tells her that we will be having drug test today. So, I stayed home. My classmates have no idea that I smoke. I am scared that they will tell the teacher about the phone call and I will be tested tomorrow. How can I pass....also my step-mom works in the lab, so, maybe she will see that I failed and let me pass??? I get kicked out if I fail.

First of all that is one odd story but I have heard others that were weirder. But the heart of the matter is like most. What exactly are your smoking habits? Do you smoke every day and if so how many times and how much each time and what kind of quality? Have you read the sub and dilution threads? How many days do you have till the test? Get a home test or two to test if you can pass with dilution or on your own (sounds like on your own with short notice is out of the question). It sounds like subbing may be the better choice but if you don't know about the testing procedure either by going through it at least once or from someone else you will not know if you are going to be watched. If you don't know the procedure then you could prepare to do both subbing and diluting and if you can't sub then go ahead and give them dilute urine.
You know, I asked someone this one time (if an insider could help him out) or something close to this and it really offended Sec3. I wouldn't rely on this course of action! Sorry Sec3!

Well, I dont know if I will get tested tommorrow since the whole class went to the lab yesterday. So, if I miss school tommorrow again that will buy me about 5 days to get clean. But, I dont want to miss anymore school.

I smoke several times a day, I would have quit if I knew of the drug testing.

First, my dear, there is such a nursing shortage in this country that there are hospitals, medical centers and schools begging for nursing applicants. Some medical facilities will even pay for your education, so in the event that you are expelled from this program, there are plenty of others out there, and programs that will not drug test while you are getting your degree.

Secondly, I will give you my educated guess that you will not be watched while being tested, so subbing and/or diluting is an option for you at this juncture. I would also be straight with your step-mom; tell her what your situation is and maybe she can help you, not by giving your lab test a pass, but possibly running interference with your dean or delaying your test. (You wouldn't want your step-mom to lose her job by falsifying your results.) I would also go a trusted teacher or advisor at your school and apprise him/her of your situation. Since you are a straight A student, I bet they will help you, if nothing more than giving you an imcomplete for this semester while you get yourself clean. Sometimes, honesty is the best policy when you are a student. Universities and colleges are begging for money these days, and they don't want to lose your tuition, especially since you are a top student.

If decide to go to another school, they are not going to ask why you "quit" this other program. You can always give them an answer that you ran into financial hardship, it wasn't challenging enough, etc.

If you pass this random by diluting or subbing, you are probably best advised to adjust your life style by abstaining for the duration. It sucks, but such are the times we live in. Good luck.

Lola that is some good and realistic advice but I want to think positively and hope she can pass without telling anyone. Pimp your friends for info to see what the test was like. Unless they smoke though I wouldn't tell any of the classmates that you smoke when you are getting info from them. People can be so competitive they might use this against you. I have a feeling you will not be watched so if you can get some clean urine from a friend who is not in your class or buy some and have it sent overnight then you should be able to pull it off.

There is competition because there are 5 other girls and one of the girls is always trying to correct me. I can tell that she cannot be trusted. None of them smoke except one girl, and she was stupid enough to let the others find out. They were going to tell the teacher on her, so that is why I am scared that they will let the teacher know that I knew about the test. Great advice, thanx!

Yeah, fakeboobs, you're damned if you do and damned if you don't. At least if she turns up neg dilute, she can retest.

Amy420, I would ask your trusted friends in your class whether the test was observed.

Also, buy some home tests and practice dilution. If you have a trusted friend that doesn't smoke, maybe you can you use their urine and practice subbing.

In the meantime, heed my advice about the nursing shortage. Again, there are a lot of other programs out there. During my own collegiate career, I found that college administrators and faculty can be very sympathetic. My last year of college I went through a serious depression, and one my profs gave me an A in the class anyway, when I explained to him what was happening with me, because he was impressed by class work and contributions to the class, even though I didn't turn in my final paper.

They're used to dealing with "nutcase" (LOL) students. It would be great if you didn't have to tell anyone, but I've made that mistake in the past, realizing I could have saved myself a lot of trouble. Take it from an old broad.

Well now I say don't tell the one girl that smokes because the others may take her down and if she goes down she might take you with her just to help spread the heat around! Trust no one!

The results go directly to the head administration, so the teacher has no say. But, if I do fail then maybe I can give a guilt trip that I have two kids and am under stress and pressure, and I still make great grades.
