does anyone know what kind a drug test does the transportation security administration have i was told that u have to have a medical exam also along with the drug screen does anyone know the procedures that were used and were u observed there i need to know thanks

DOT testing, if I am not mistaken, is a 5-panel test, as opposed to the 10-panel test that the rest of us slobs are forced to take. The 10-panel tests for a wider variety of illicit drugs.

Don't know why the DOT is less. Does that mean it's less stringent?

Because the DOT (Department of Transportation) 5-panel urine test is required testing. The government requires employers to test their employees who perform safety sensitive functions. (drive large semi's, transport haz. mat., drive busses, RR conductors & engineers, airline pilots flight crew and mechanics; flammable and pressurized pipeline workers, Coast Guard, subway operators, etc...) Because there is an extra burdon placed on those employers, the government tests for the 5 most widely abused drugs. Also, the time this regulation was written, most of the remaining drugs on a standard 10 panel test weren't widely abused.

They do update the regs on an ongoing basis, but it takes time.
