Hi all,

A new member here - a heavy smoker for years!!
Thing is, I have pretty much been accepted to a job and on Friday, August 25th, I have a urine test. On that day, I will have been clean for 88 days to be exact!!! But, im still worrying - I was a very heavy smoker - say in the likes of 4-5 joints a day (not alone but usually with my gf or someone else) for like 5-6 years. A lot of smoking basically.

Im 6 foot, about 180lbs - definetely have a mild gut but not overweight and have average to a little higher than average metabolism I would say. I was going to go exercise today (I guess I shouldnt since the test is 2 days away!), so do the experts on this issue think I should dilute my urine or just not worry about it. Is it still recommened I drink some water, OJ or carberry juice (to preservce the color) along with some Vitamins and a couple Aspirin or no? Does having aspirin cause suspicion these days? Do they test for it?

Am I freaking out for nothing, since it has been over 12 weeks since ive touched any of the good ol stuff, but like I said, I used to smoke a lot!!
Thanks for any help and would really apprecaite a prompt reply so that I can start taking action for diluting, etc..

As far as I know they don't test for aspirin. What you should test is your urine, with a home test available at a drug store or online. Use your dirtiest urine of the day to test with, which is the first void of the morning. If you can pass with this urine then you should be safe as long as you don't make any drastic changes for the next few days. 84 days and dirty wouls surprise me (and most here) but anything is possible. At 6' and 180, I don't think you will have that long of a half-life. You are probably freaking out for nothing but a few bucks on a home test would easy your mind.

Agree...Go and get a home test kit. I got one last night for about $20. Also, I recommend reading up on all of the information on this site...Good info!!

I just came back from Walgreens with a home test kit. Im almost too anxious and dont want to wait till tomorrow morning to try it out. I think Im going to try it now and see the results, my actual tesr is in the afternoon so thats not first thing in the morning either. I pretty much have to go now cuz im worrying, LOL :-) here goes, ill post back later.

Damn it, I got screwed test, the results expired part was red and no lines or anything ever came up, what a joke. Im gonna go to to CVS and see if they have another brand there and take it in the morning this time.

Follow up: the first test is the one sold at Walgreens called At Home Drug Test, does not seem like a good product. I just bought one at CVS made by a company called First Check, looks a little higher quality judging from the package and printed material. Lets hope so. Havent used it yet, but it only requires several drops of urine compared whereas the other one requires more and this one gives you the results in 3-8 minutes and the other said 10 mins or so at least so I have a little more faith in this one. Ill post back giving the results tomorrow morning, unless I cant contain myself and take the test tonight. Both were $15 and both quote 99.9% accuracy. Again, lets hope im clean and lets hope their accuracy is indeed good.

That was a little hard to follow. Could you explain that. BTW the control line helps you to establish whether the test is still good because even though it might expire next year if the test was not properly stored then they can go bad. The tests can go bad for a few other reasons too. I hate walgreens they are such a-holes. If you have the receipt and they sold you something defective, make them give you your money back, with the piss covered test and all!

Hi,

In this test there is a part where on the tester stick it reads test expired and that it becomes red after a while the test is taken to show that the result shouldnt be interpreted after this time (states 15 mins on directions). Well, after about a minute I put my urine to be tested, I realized the test expired part was already red, so the test was a dud basically, I think it was Red before I even put the reader in the container with the urine - I didnt notice before since I wasnt looking there but I do think it was always red - hence a bad test. On the box the expiration date hadnt been reached yet so its not that the test was expired. In my test, I did everything as it stated in the directions and no Control line came up after 10 mins no other line came up at all and nothing happened basically. The test expired part was always colored red from the start and nothing else ever happened. Bad product basically, yeah I hate Walgreens too, its just closer to my home so I went there first, nah I didnt keep the receipt unfortunately. Otherwise I would have loved to give it back to them, LOL.

Also, I just did the test I got from CVS, the First Check test and it came out negative. I couldnt resist taking it, so thats a good sign im clean and im damn relieved since I have to take the real test in 2 days, this test was fine, the control line came up and everything went according to the instructions.

There are some test sticks that if you stick it too far into the urine it will ruin the test. That might have been one of them. Damn it man I hate walgreens. CVS is much better store and pharmacy and better pharmacists. Glad you passed!

You know, maybe I did stick it in too far, and it made contact with parts of the tester stick that it shouldnt have, I think the amount was over the line but it didnt look like it was touching anything of siginificance, however, but close, I did read that the level of urine may rise (creep up over time) (dont ask me how??)after putting the tester in, so Im not ruling out that possibility and is proabably why it happened, makes sense since it was about 1-2 mins after I put it in that I realized it was Red and maybe since the amount of urine was already over the line it creeped up further during this time. This makes sense actually, I guess it was my fault then. Funny thing is I didnt see that damn line at first and only noticed it when I saw the test was already faulty, I think it is my mistake actually now that you mention that.

Haha, I still hate Walgreens too!! :-) And agree about CVS.

Hi Jack,

I took the test today, they send the results off to a lab as this place isnt actually a medical lab but more of a company that does the background checks, etc.. and they also take your urine samples too. They said that they send it off at the end of the day. What I want to ask is, will this be the regular EMIT test or do they perform a GC/MS test from the get go. I read up that its usually EMIT and if you are postiive they follow it up with the GC/MS, is this correct? Also, since I passed the First Check home test, 2 days ago I shouldnt really be worrying right? Are there any reported cases on here by those who have passed the home tests but actually failed the real lab tests? Im assuming those tests are just as good as detecting the substance as the labs? Should I worry if they do a more extensive test from the getgo (ie. GC/MS), It has been 88 days today so I really think I SHOULD be ok but like I said, I smoked a lot over a long time, and I dont want to miss this oppurtunity at this company. Thanks for all your help already.
