Urine test coming up on Monday.

I'm 33, 5'9", 146lb., relatively heavy smoker (multiple daily) for like ever (OK, maybe it's just been 15 years). My metabolism is relatively high, but it isn't what it used to be - I can gain weight much more easily now that in my 20s .

Urine test history:
In 1999 I had a test with oodles of warning for a new job. I took my first test, which I paid for at a lab, at 6 weeks clean with 1st morning's urine and failed. I took the actual test 2 weeks later and passed.

My second test was in 2001. I applied for a job, had the interview on a Friday, and assumed it would be a while before they got back to me (so no attempt to clean up). Poor assumption. I got a call on Monday that the job was mine & I just needed to pass a UA on WEDNESDAY. So I cold freaked out and went to the head shop and bought a $50 bottle of something. I drank tons of water up until the test, had a salad with lots of vinegar (based on the advice of a friend) for lunch on test day, chickened out on the expensive drink (I don't know what triggers an adulterated sample and decided that I would rather be found a smoker than a cheater), and PASSED.

Years pass, and a great job becomes available. I've been clean for 8 days now. I just took a home test after drinking a lot of water all day and failed. I'm going to do N2's method tomorrow a.m. by the book, and test again.

In the past 8 days I've stayed well-hydrated, exercised moderately, eaten very well (nothing processed, except for a run for the border last night), and have lost 5 lbs. I started creatine today.

Substitution is not an option as the job is at a hospital, and there is a physical involved. I've never had a pre-job physical. Anyone had one at a hospital? What is involved?

Any words of encouragement are GREATLY appreciated.

Word of encouragement, You will do fine, Want the truth ?, You might fail. It's taken me 19 days to pass a drug screen, immunoassay, there at 50 ng. it's taken me 60 day just to get below 20 ng. And that "snake oil" you bought at the head shop won't do a thing, nitrates in them will give an adulterated sample. Vinegar is an old myth, I have an old book that says it will shut down your kidneys. I did smoke alot before. read all the post. use the search on this site for your questions.

Thanks dfguy. I read your posts. I too am a professional with a fairly high salary. I have an advanced degree in a field most people are scared to death of. I feel like a total pariah right now.

You're not a pariah. You're a high-performing, above average professional like many of us whose bosses could care less whether we smoke a little weed Fortune 500 insurance company for which there is a special circle in hell. So, stop beating yourself up.

I don't know about your chances for passing this test. I hope that someone who's taken a test for a hospital job with a physical involved, will be able to answer you so you can make a strategic decision about subbing.

I'd have to say that many of the anecdotes I've read on this forum where there are pre-employ physicals in addition to a ua, have had the pee test first, and the physical second.

I've had three pre-employ physicals; one I took a test beforehand but was able to keep my clothes on that included an EKG, blood test and vision test. The other two I peed first but took the physical second. There was a little feeling around the pube area, but I personally think they were checking for sub evidence, like a bottle, two pairs of underwear, etc.

If I had been subbing for my most recent pre-employ tests, I could have easily ditched a sub container into my purse before the doc came in.

I say you should dilute to give yourself a fighting chance, or see if you can't stall these people for more time.

I hope someone who works at a hospital will get back to you. In the meantime, you have my moral support.

Thanks Lolo69. I'm really chicken about subbing. And my donor would have to be my sister who is 5 months preggers - do you think they'd do a PG test? I am assuming no, because that would cost them more money. Then again it's a hospital so they have all the technology and money to do whatever in the hell they want.

I'm having some strange muscle twitching tonight post-dog walk. I wonder if it's the creatine or my nerves. Or both.

Nope.

You are correct in your assumption. Not to mention, pregnancy tests cannot be conducted on a sample thats being tested for drugs. Not without written authorization from the donor.

Remember, all that technology costs money to operate. Labs, like any other business, are in to making a profit and they are not gonna arbitarily run special tests that could prove detrimental to their bottom line.

So, I did the dilution this morning. I drank fruit punch Powerade.

08:40:00 AM 16oz + aspirin

10:15:00 AM Sandwich, fiber (4 pills), creatine Finished 64oz bottle
10:40:00 AM Pee

11:15:00 AM 4oz
11:35:00 AM Pee + 4oz
12:00:00 PM Pee + 8oz
12:27:00 PM Pee

and at 1:10, I peed and did an at home test (First Check from CVS - the same test I failed twice in the past 8 days), and I passed with a healthy line! I plan to do it again tomorrow as practice. Keep your fingers crossed. I didn't take any vitamins as they are just for color, but I will tomorrow.

That's great news. Good for you for reading the dilution sticky and doing a test run. Maybe you want to do another one today.

So, I did the dilution and took the real test yesterday. I guess time will tell if I actually passed it. The consent form did not have any codes on it indicating what kind of test it was, it only indicated that it was a screen. I ran home after filling the cup at the lab and did another 50 ng home test, and passed again with a good line, so hopefully it was a 50 ng test.

I'll let you guys know if I find out for sure, which should happen soon if I'm offered the job. I'm still off the reefer until I find out for sure. It's a good break for me.

This site helped to calm my fears about this test so much. Keep up the good work for all of us closet tokers.

Hmmm, if I am correct, I believe a screen is just an immunoassay (the stick), as opposed to the GC/MS, which means it won't get the gas.

Good luck, I got my fingers cross for you. Don't be like others who don't let us know what their results are.
