I took my test Thursday- it had been over 3 weeks since I'd used, and I don't use all that heavily. I was nervous anyway though, because I'd been smoking more than usual for a couple months before I went clean, 2 or 3 times a week. I even took a home test Thursday, after I'd drunk maybe 1litre of water, and came up clean. So I figured I was fine either way. Today, in the middle of orientation, the HR takes me in the office and says my results were not "satisfactory"-- didn't actually say I'd failed, but still probably cost me the job. She said she'd never had a situation like this?? I said, does that mean I might have drunk too much water, and she kind of implied maybe, but she would have to check with the lab for more specifics!! WTF! I actually DO drink a lot of water, I didn't think the amount I had would dilute it. Doesn't she have to tell me what my lab results are? I know she doesn't have to hire me for neg. Dilute, but it just doesn't make any sense. or did I actually fail somehow? I'm so confused, and probably out of a job. F^*&^*&! Any advice??

Smoking two or three times a week for 2 months, then clean three weeks. I'd say odds are that you're clean. Try to take a home test without drinkiing a liter of water beforehand and see if you pass. If you do, simply volunteet to take another test to try to appease them. Otherwise you're at the mercy of the employer to either take you or pass you by. I believe you have the right to know if they fire you whether it was a positive test or not. If they say no, the only other possibility would be that it was diluted, unless they thought it was somehow adulterated, but there's no reason here to think that would be the case.

Well, now they are saying that I did have THC in my system-- even though I tested clean on the home test. They said if I really believed it was inaccurate I could take a retest- but jesus, this sounds like some super-powered testing system for my circumstance? I'm tempted to retest, but nervous. Now it's been 4 full weeks though?

Did you drink a lot of water or other fluids before passing a home test, or take some ripoff detox drink? Might explain your negative home test, or perhaps the test your company used was whacked.

Anyway, if you really want this job, go ahead and take the retest, after testing your first part, first morning void without drinking a ton of fluids to see if you pass a home test.

If negatory, go ahead and resked the pre-employ (bearing in mind that you will have to pay for it - usually $65). If you do turn up dirty on a home test, you can still try subbing or diluting, using the methods outlined on this forum.

I really appreciate all the info on this forum. I can not believe I still had THC present in my system after 23 days clean and the amount I smoked (2-3x per week in small amounts, at the very max). Is is possible that I came up dillute, and then they looked for a lower level, like 20ng in my system? Do I have a right to ask? Something seems very fishy about this whole process. They are going to let me retest, I think, if I pay for, but here I am, lost all my income for the past week on account of this BS. By the time I retest it will have been 5 weeks or more, so I'm sure I'm fine-- but what bad luck!
