So yesterday I found out that my spouse had faxed 2 of the employment forms to the previous fax number when the recruiter had asked that the documents be faxed to a new number. This freaked me out so I called the recruiter to clarify what had happened and find out if she had recieved the forms. I couldnt get through to her so I left messages.

She returned my calls today and said that she has "everything she needs' and received the faxed documents from a coworker who forwarded them along to her. She also said that they still need me to start on the 18th and that someone will be calling me by early next week to let me know where I am to report for orientation.

I think this means that I passed all the preemployment screening. What do you think? I know they are in a real hurry to fill these positions. I need to give notice to my current employer tomorrow. Is that safe to do??

Well, I'm cautiously optimistic for you. You took your test last Thursday, and find out today (Wed.) from the recruiter that he/she still needs you to start on the 18th.

Someone (from the company?) will be calling you next week to let you when you can attend orientation?

If you say you got the temp right on your sub, I think you're good to go, but wait until you get the call from HR next week about orientation. I wouldn't celebrate by smoking yet.

*UPDATE*
Yesterday afternoon after I had given notice that I'll be leaving, I got a call from the background check place. They requested my birthdate. This has got to mean that they haven't gotten far at all in their investigation. I don't think there is anything that would come up against me, but this concerns me b/c I gave notice thinking that all that stuff was complete and that I'd been approved for the job.

Yes, someone from the HR department will call me to notify me where orientation will be.

If they're asking for a birthdate, they're just checking for felonies. If you haven't any felonies, you have nothing to worry about.

I had to give my birthdate and SS# to our state's department of children and family services for an FBI check when I was helping out a young student who was a foster child, so I could drive her to visit her sibs.

They're just checking to make sure you're not a pedophile or an ex-bank robber or some stuff like that.

I really hope that this all works out for you, and please post when you receive your orientation date so we can all high five you.

Sostressed, I can see why you chose your username.

A birthdate is needed to do most any kind of background check, not just criminal. You also need it to check driving history, Local, Federal as well as State Criminal history, Educational verification, SSN Trace for address verification, lots of stuff.

Man, they really dropped the ball on this one. Hang in there.

*UPDATE*
I've been waiting all week for that call that was supposed to come "early" in the week. It is now Thursday so I called the recruiter. She said that the HR people had been in "off site meetings" yesterday and that's why I didn't get a call. She gave me the address to where I should be on Monday!! I think she remembers me. Certainly she would have said something if everything didn't go through, right!?

Can I breathe a sigh of relief yet?? This incredibly stressful process has gone on 3 weeks now!
