Hey all.

I'm wondering if its a law that companies have to disclose whether or not they drug test? I had an interview yesterday, and the lady said as long as I'm healthy, can pass a strength test, and dont have a criminal background (I'm healthy, strong, and have never been arrested) I have the job. On thursday I have to go to some hospital and take the strength test and get a physical. Now, I've heard from 2 sources, a former employee and the lady that interviewed me that the company doesnt drug test, but I'm wondering if they'll still test me even though they said they wouldnt. I think I'm being a little paranoid, but I can just see them lying and testing the urine or blood I give them during the physical.

Any help?

...in the state I live in they can't do that. If it's a physical, it's just that. If it's a drug test, they have to inform you of that.

What state do you live in? I live in MA. Do you think I'll be all set and can go get blunted tonite or do you think I should be worried. Can they test my pee for drugs without asking?

You should have to sign a consent form for drug tests.

You WOULD have to sign the consent form for a drug test. Also, the consent form, it basically a declaration that the urine supplied was yours and that you did not tamper with it.

Get a copy of the employer policy, especially the part about their drug and alcohol policy

Is that usually a seperate sheet or can it be roped in with all the other legal mumbojumbo they make you sign before you go into the interview? I scanned it all pretty quickly and didnt see anything, but I'm starting to think I should have read a little closer.

But I still cant get past the fact a former employee and the lady in charge of human resources said they dont drug test.

You can and should always ask for a copy of anything you sign for employment or anything else.

Go back and ask for a copy.

Whelp, I had the HR department fax everything I signed over to me, no mention of any drug testing. I posted on that laws forum 420godfather mentioned, they said they dont have to tell me theyre drug testing me, but its very rare they dont. All that, on top of those 2 people telling me theres no drug tests makes me believe I'm starting monday. Thanks for all the help.
