| Hello everyone, Things get more and more complicated, which is about par for life in general. Got a call on Monday from a potential employer who offered me the position for which I will be starting 11/13. He told me that I would likely spend half that day filling out HR papers and taking a drug test. I didn't sat anything, but it seemed odd that a company would want you to take a drug test on your first day, rather than a few days before. Anyone ever have to take a drug test on their first day? Anyway, because of this and not knowing when I may have the test, I figured it would be awfully uncomfortable walking/sitting with a small shampoo bottle basically going up my ass for perhaps a 1/2 a day. With that in mind, I ran through a test today with the bottle and a heat pack. I got the sample up to around 107 degrees or so, taped the heat back on the bottle, then put it between my sock and leg. Two hours later, it was holding at around 96-97 degrees, so it seems like this method might work, yet I haven't seen anyone else mention this in other posts. Has anyone tried this and succeeded, or is there a potential problem with this method that I'm not thinking about? Thanks, David |

| People use heat packs to keep substitutions at temp all the time. I think in your situation it's a good way to go until you get the heads up that the test is going down. I'd assume they will send you off somewhere to take it. When you know it's coming up take a 2 min break and move the sub to the most reliable temperature control zone you have ... the taint ... and then it will be a small wait with it there during which your body temp will even out the sample temp to where it should be. I just might suggest having 2 heating pads on you for back up in case the first one wears out while you wait. You never know.

| To answer your other question: Yes, companies drug test on your first day. If they use an instant test, they will get an indication whether you are using marijuana (or any other banned substance). They might send you home until a confirmation can be obtained from a lab, or they may not even send the specimen in to a lab for confirmation, going on the instant screening alone. |

| This "instant test" would be given to me by the employer and not a collection facility? David |

| Some companies use a staff member (usually a member of the HR department) to conduct drug testing, but most use a 3rd party. Either someone like me would come to the employer's facility or the employer would send you to my office for the drug testing. |
