|  False Positive: prilosec or Omeprazole Curious to hear if anyone has failed a urine test while taking either prilosec or Omeprazole? |

| Do you mean has anyone received a false positive result for marijuana while taking those drugs? I have never heard of anyone having that result. |

| Actually, Prilosec belongs to a class of drugs called proton pump inhibitors. There was one drug in this class, I think it was Protonix, that was for a short time was causing false positives on immunoassay. It was figured out though on confirmation by GC/MS that it was a false positive. If you do a search you can find the posts that deal with it. I think the story goes something about a whole group of people who were in a nursing home failed their drug tests (why they are drug testing old people in a nursing home????) and they were all on Protonix and they pieced it together. Well they have fixed the immunoassay so this doesn't happen anymore plus once they do a GC/MS it elimintaes false positives found in immunoassay. So Prilosec wasn't the one that was causing false positives, they figured the false positive Protonix users out during GC/MS, and it has since been fixed. |
