The job I am looking at says that they require a physican's certification at the time of hire and every three years to see if I am able to perform the job duties-does this mean a drug test or just a note from my doc?

That sounds like just a physical to me. A physical is a physical and a drug test is a drug test. They should have told you if you needed to take a drug test or at least mentioned that they promoted a drug free workplace. You should also have signed a consent form saying you agree to a drug test as part of the qualifications for being hired.

ive heard of this before. some of my friends had to be given physicals for jobs, and that included giving a urine sample as well. but im not saying thats whats going to happen. but usually, when they are evaluating you for the job, by giving you the physical, im pretty sure they would include a drug test as well. thats just what i think. let me know what happens. and your very very right itoke, they would of made you sign consent that you know if they do criminal backgrounds and drug testing.
