Hello, Let me just say first off that my question is probably going to be mostly directed at Sec3, but I would appreciate any help that anybody can give at this point. I have searched extensively on this forum, and cannot find this question, so forgive me if it's a dupe. I took my first pre-employment test about 2 weeks ago, and received notification that the sample was canceled. I wasn't able to get in touch with my prospective employer for a few days because of the holiday, and when I finally got back in touch with them, they agreed to schedule an observed re-test the following day. After much stressing and practice with my sub method (I know, stupid, but I didn't have nearly enough time for the dilute method), I went to the facility to take the test and they didn't observe me at all. I was able to close the door, pour in my sub, put some dirty pee in the toilet, sign my papers, and leave. Went off without a hitch. My question is...will the employer be able to tell that the test was not observed? There was no indication of observation (or lack of observation) on the chain of custody form which I signed. Will it possibly be anywhere on the computer systems that the HR department can pull up? Is that information even transmitted from the collection facility to the lab? And then to HR? Again, sorry if this is a dupe post. Thanks in advance for any help.

Keep in mind, I talked to the MRO before I had really done any searching on this site, so I will still VERY ignorant of what to ask. The MRO essentially called me and said "Your test was not positive, but we were unable to come to a conclusion about your results because the ph was off, therefore your test was essentially canceled. Please contact your employer about a re-test". I said "Ok...I will contact them, thank you". Sorry, like I said that's all I really knew to ask at the time.

If your "test was not positive", then good. I wouldn't discuss the details of the conversation with the employer... I would simply just say, "I got a call from the drug testing doc and he said the test needs to be rescheduled." That's all they need to know.... but it sounds like you already had your conversation. What was your sub method??

Redzone - yes, I have already had my conversation, and I have completed my re-test. I subbed using QF 4.0. I got the temp right and signed my papers, so i'm going off of blind faith here and assuming that everything is golden with the results. My question deals not so much with "did i pass?"...again, blind faith...but more with the details of the test procedure that my prospective employer will be given. Essentially, is there any way that my prospective employer can pull up my results and say "Well, he passed, but LC didn't indicate that he was observed...we need another re-test, and this time we need to make sure he is observed"? Or is there any other indication that my test was not observed (since the employer requested an observed test) and LC didn't adhere to that request?

I'm a little concerned QF 4.0 came back with a pH that was off. I never used it, but am kinda relying on it now. Did you transfer into a different container before you went?? How old was it?? Did you add anything to it? I know u not concerned about that... but I am! As for my opinion on the employer.... I do not know the policy of the lab you went to as to whether observation is disclosed to your employer. My experience with employers is they just want a negative on file. This covers their ass for insurance and stuff. If you think they suspect you, be prepared to be tested again in the near future. I am sure we're all just so confident in the randomness of the random.

Explicit is correct, my first test was not with Quick Fix 4.0. My first test I used an additive, and had problems. My second test (which was supposed to be observed, but wasn't) I used Quick Fix 4.0. I am assuming the Quick Fix will work, so i'm not really worried about that part of it; i'm only concerned with the employer knowing I was not observed even though they requested it.

Thanks. Sorry if I seemed stressed to some, I just was curious about those details. Like I said before rich, I can only answer your concern by opinion. Since it's pre-employment, I think that the employer only cares about a "negative" for their files. Good luck, but I'm confident for you.

The first test was cancelled because your urine specimen was found to be "not consistant with human urine". That means the specimen was not even tested for drugs because it didn't even pass the integrity testing. The second specimen was supposed to be observed but wasn't. There is a space on the CCF to indicate whether the test was observed and if a collection is observed, then the collector is supposed to write in the name of the observer and the reason for the observation in the "remarks" section of the CCF. If there is nothing written in the appropriate spaces, then the employer can assume that the test was not observed. Hopefully, the employer, with the holiday madness, will forget that your second test needed observation and will just accept the results of the test on face value.
