I need to know if weight loss of 16lbs can cause a false positve test for a habbitual smoker of 30+ yrs

anyone with information please let me know where I can get said study in print

do mean you haven't smoked in a few years or months but just lost that weight? If so I don't think you can test positive now.

Burning body fat releases stored THC metabolites into the bloodstream. From there they are eliminated, mostly in urine, i.e. burning fat increases levels of THC metabolites in urine temporarily. For this reason, we generally recommend that people stop fat-burning exercise and go into fat-storing mode a few days before a drug test.

The positive test result you'd get in this fat-burning situation wouldn't be a false positive. The immunoassay test and the GC/MS confirmation test would show levels of true THC metabolites.
