I have read several posts where people stated their sample results cam e back as "diluted". How are you getting that information?

I realize companies operate in different ways. At my company they do not say a thing if you passed. I think I am under suspicion as I have been "randomly" called about 4 times in the past year, but only 3 times in the 6 years prior.

I'm pretty nervous right now and actually expect that I failed the test Friday. I smoked 1-2 hits 1/1, have been smoking small amounts regularly recently; have not been excersizing or eating properly; I did take 5 asprins 2 hours ahead, and 2 aspirin 30 minutes prior, but was out of vitamins. I had about 2.5 hours notification and was able to start drinking at that time, most of what I drank was water approx. 100 oz.
Any words of wisdon out there?

Chances are that your test came back with a "negative dilute" result. Drinking almost a gallon of water with nothing to restore electrolyte levels (specific gravity) or creatinine levels will do that.

When a test comes back "negative dilute" the organization requiring the test might retest or deem it a failure.

You said in a previous post your urine was pale or colorless and you made a reference to how you didn't take vitamins before the test. Color really doesn't matter. Everything must be verified by lab values and not by sight alone. The reason why most people know they gave dilute samples is because they are told and sometimes told to retest. Depending on the situation, not everyone will get a retest.

Employers are more willing to accept a negative dilute as a pass for randoms due to the cost of re-testing and the very nature of randoms. You aren't supposed to have that much notice so most employers don't believe you can dilute deliberately with such short notice.

Employers are not so willing to accept a dilute negative for a pre-employment test because the donor had so much notice (usually days prior), and should not have tested dilute because he/she had the notice and shouldn't have gone to the bathroom within a few hours of the test or drank excessively. They should have been able to give a normal specimen. If it is dilute, the employer will want a definitive result for pre-employment.

Randoms, not so much.
