Is it possible to be so diluted that the sample can't be tested or do they just "reject" the sample and have you give another sample?

Absolutely. Tests are done for specific gravity, Ph, and creatinine levels. If any of these are outside of normal ranges your test results will be "negative-dilute". You'd either fail or be required to retest.

What Buzzby said and also it depends on what the drug test was for, you may not get a chance to retest.

Thanks, anytime I get a dilute they make me retest. I took a home test today and passed no problem. I'd rather have a dilute and have to retest than come up positive.
