I have recently graduated college and received a job in my field at a very, very high profile, world-reknown hospital. After applying months ago, I didn't expect to receive the job offer, and planned on working at the restaurant I have been employed with for years. Before this last month, I have been a twice-a-year, one-two hit smoker, for years, at the most. I could probably say that I've had 25 hits of marijuana in the past 14 years.

Five weeks ago I had 3 hits. Three weeks ago, I had 3 hits. Seven days ago I had 1 hit. My urine test for this hospital job is tomorrow. I went out last night and purchased two different products. A bottle of Vales, and this "green clean" stuff that seems very complicated.

Given my use history, and that the job I am testing for is a hospital with a huge, sophisticated lab, what should I do? Should I do the Vales? Should I just not do anything? Should I do the "green clean" with the pills and vile of green stuff? Should I stop exercising (I've been on a diet for the past month, with extreme exercise and diet)? Help! Apologies for the length of this but I'm freaking out! This job is the opportunity of a lifetime.

Take a home test. If you fail, read the dilution sticky.

Since I posted this earlier today, I did take a home test and I was negative. I don't know how reliable it was - the box looked VERY generic. I am still considering the Vales drink tomorrow, but my concern lies with over-dillution. Again, this is a VERY, VERY high-profile hospital, and I'm unsure if a second chance will be given with over-dillution - some people would kill to get the position I was offered. I bet I am way over-analyzing the situation, and considering my very infrequent history of use, I probably have nothing to worry about. I'm a bit OCD, and have to triple check myself.

Didn't mention that I'm 5'4", 205 lbs. My metabolism up until a month a go was slow as molasses. I started dieting in the last month with cardio and weights 5 times/week and have lost 7 lbs in the last 3 & 1/2 wks. I assume that this info affects my passing chances. Also, I'm almost 100% sure that the hospital I'm testing for uses the gc/ms method (if that's what it's called!).

GC/MS detects up to 15mg/ml, or something to that measure. Rather than the normal 50mg/ml used in normal labs. It'll be a close one, but i think you are safe.

Given your usage history I am VERY confident that you will pass with flying colours. If it makes you feel better, drink 16 ounces of water 1 hour before your test but no more. Don't want to blow this test by coming up dilute when you would have passed anyway. Wish I could give you a 100% guarantee but I think you're pretty golden. Please let us know how it goes.

I was supposed to be asleep hours ago (my test is late afternoon, but i have earlier stuff to do)... anyways, my nerves kept me awake!

I will for sure update on the progress of this situation. I actually have an appointment already scheduled for this friday to read results of all of the tests i have to take. I will let you know what happens. Keep your fingers crossed.

Definitely going to need some herbal refreshment after all of this drama...

I passed! They gave me results immediately, because there were vaccinations and blood work that were completed right after, and apparently they don't want to spend the money on all of that if you aren't clean. I don't think I had much to worry about in the first place (with my history), but better safe than sorry, right?
My test was at 2pm, and all I did was drink 16oz of gatorade 2 hours before. No water all day. I was worried for over-dillute. I am positive that my situation called for just that, and that this would not work for everyone. I also have been working out like crazy for the past month, so my metabolism was amped up. The two days prior to the test, I took it easy - no work out, didn't really watch my diet either. I guarantee that I could've done without the precautions, but you never know, so I did all of that anyways.
A friend of mine told me that it's funny how all of the "random users" are always the most paranoid. I guess I was, but it paid off. Good luck to everyone else going through all of this. I read a bunch of previous posts and the dillution sticky, and took the home tests and it helped a bit to learn how fast I metabolize what I use.
NOTE: I assumed that the hospital would take the sample to the lab for the GC/MS, but they did not. They did the simple panel test, and were only sending preliminary positives to the lab. Had it been the GC/MS, I'm not sure what would have happened.
