This is my first post but I REALLY need some help!!! Yesterday, I completed a pre-employment drug screen at LabCorp and today was notified that the results were "inconclusive". Does anyone know what that means? I've searched the threads but haven't seen reference to this before. The facts: I haven't smoked since 1/3 (before that, pretty much daily). I have tried natural cleansing (green tea, cranberry, good diet, etc) since I quit. I took a home test a few days ago and tested negative. My questions: What the heck does inconclusive mean? Is the 50ng/ml level consistent with ALL tests? I ask this because I lost a previous job because of showing 24ng. I have to take an observed re-test tomorrow (anytime). Any ideas or suggestions??? I'm kind of freaking out!

hmmm... that's a tough one No idea what inconclusive means... Id say your choices are dilute or pray your call... being a retest, I would advise being very careful about dilution as they will surely be checking this one twice. Did you try to dilute before? Maybe 'inconclusive' is their way of saying 'dilute' without telling you why you have to come back... You sort of answered your own question about the cutoff level. Under normal circumstances I would say you are probably fine if you self tested negative... but having it come out inconclusive would say otherwise ![]()

Thanks for the response. I tried another home test first thing this morning and tested negative. I guess I'm going with the praying option. I don't have time to follow the dillute method completely. I'm just hoping 28 days is long enough for me to pee clean! I'm hoping "inconclusive" was just a glitch of some sort. The person that called me said it was fairly common. Off I go in a couple of hours. With fingers and toes crossed!!!

Inconclusive usually means that they did a screening and the specimen didn't come up as negative. A screening cannot report a specimen as positive, only non-negative, or inconclusive. If the employer didn't arrange or set up the specimens to go through the GC/MS, then you may have to re-test (although I don't know of any tests going to labCorp that DON'T go through the GC/MS on a non-negative screening). Did you sub or pee your own?

I took Stinger about 2 hours before and did my own. I'm wondering if that had anything to do with it. Also, my question about the level of detection has me worried. If the home test only shows 50+ and that is what most references on this forum discuss... what the hell??? I did mention losing a job for showing 24. What I left out was that those results were done in the past 6 weeks. Would that prompt some kind of red flag? Today, my test is at a different facility (Baptist Hospital) because of having more male techs on staff. Any thoughts?

24ng/mL is possible on drug tests that go to laboratories. Mostly if an employer is testing at the lowest detectable level (LDL). It is rare, because it is more expensive than the usual testing at 50ng/mL. If something was detected in your urine that is not normal, but is different than known adulterants, that might also cause an invalid result. Yes, all invalid results are followed up with an observed re-collection. It was probably that substance you drank that caused the invalid result (Stinger???) Did an MRO (doctor) call you? If so, did he/she explain what was the determining factor in deciding that the original specimen was invalid? No one can say for sure now what caused it except the MRO, and if he/she didn't tell you, you have no choice but to pee again. Just follow the dilution method to a "T". Don't add any fancy detox formulas or cleanser potions. Your test needs to be observed and only the same sex can observe. That is why they needed more male techs. Apparently the first place didn't have a male technician on duty. good luck.

Thank you sooo much for the info! Knowing what I've found out at this point, I would have stayed away from the cleanser altogether. I have had 2 home tests (two different brands) that showed negative and they test above 50. This morning's home test was first thing and not mid-stream and showed a nice pink line where it should have been. I did ask the tech (played stupid of course) what "inconclusive" meant and he said the sample was probably dilluted or unreadable. He also said it was pretty common because people drink extra water to be able to go on command. I'm hoping today was fine without dilluting and I'll start to work Monday. I'll keep you guys posted!
