Based on everyone who's had experience with random drug tests at work:

I understand they are random, BUT how are you actually informed by the employer? .. What I mean is: do they tell you that you've been selected for a random and must immediately goto the clinic to do the test OR do they inform you a few days prior to when you will actually be testing?

My concern is that my company performs drug tests ON SITE, so if they were to tell me I had to do a random and immediately goto the on site clinic, i'd be pretty much fucked unless i'm clean. I'm hoping that this is not the case because I could still use good ol substution if I could even have 2 hours notice.

I've read a few people state that they've had "random" tests and were given notice a few days prior to the actually test.

ive heard everything from "they pulled me off the line and i had to take a test right then." to "i was given a couple days notice." to "a program randomly picked ss#'s from employee list and i was drug tested 3 times ina month"

my advice would be to either find out <without incriminating yourself> or to stay clean untill u are tested. then you will know what to expect.

i am facing the same situation with my new employer. i read on the testclear websight that they do randoms every 3-6mths. the person who posted didnt go into detail so ill just have to wait and see.

if u go to testclear.com, you can see if your employer is on the list of ppl who drug test. there it will show u what test they do and how they do it, if it is listed that is.

I would have to say the same as metus, just stay clean untill you get a test so you know how it works. If you ask the wrong person, you could rise suspicion

I get a kick out of people having two days notice for a "random" drug test. That's like me saying I am having a surprise birthday party in June.
