Hello Forum. I am new here, and have a pre-employment test coming up on Friday. I am not exactly sure the type of test I am taking, (I am sure it's a urine test) but based on the line of work I am in and previous pre-employment tests I have taken in this line of work, I am almost positive that it will be a standard urine test that will be sent to a lab for testing.

I haven't smoked since the night of Feb. 25th. Prior to that, I was what could be considered to be a light to moderate user...more along the lines of light, though. (it took me about eleven days to go through a little over a dime) I was a moderate to heavy user prior to moving where I currently live, which was approximately in the middle of January.

I bought a drink, Absolute De-Tox XXL, for the test. I was pretty confident about my chances for passing, (as I have used a drink in the past with less time clean and passed) until I did some online research and found that NO ONE recommends using a Detox drink. I've been sweating bullets since then...considered going down the subbing route, but being that I already spent a lot on this Detox drink, I don't really want to spend more money for this stupid test.

I did, however, purchase an at-home test this morning, and took it. It wasn't with my first morning pee, but I did come up with a VERY faint line. The directions say even a very faint line equals negative, so that took a LOT of stress off my shoulders. I obviously won't be taking this test early in the day, and with that drink in my system, I figure I should be fine.

Any comments/suggestions for the next two days would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

PS: My birthday is this Saturday...and I plan on smoking the hugest blunt EVER. I've had a lot of personal issues on top of stress about this test (as I just found out yesterday for sure that I got this job) and I feel I deserve it.

Yes, a line is a line. No matter how faint it is, you passed. My assumtion is that the reason the line is faint is because you are close to the cutoff level. Still passing, but barely. Thats how I view it. I could be wrong though.

Don't smoke that blunt until you've got your first pay cheque and are totally in the clear as far as further tests go. If by some chance something goes wrong in the lab (a dilution result due to perhaps the drink) and you have to retest you'll be kicking yourself for doing it. I'm not trying to freak you out I promise, I'm just offering some precautious advice.

That is good advice. It has happened more than once. Someone will take the drug test and get stoned to celebrate only to find out that something went wrong and they have to retest.

I have actually kept that possibility in the back of my mind.

I start work on Monday. Due to a huge mix-up with things, I should have actually been offered the job at the end of last week...but based on circumstances, didn't get the offer until this Tuesday. (I consider it all a blessing as it bought me time for this test) I'm hoping based on lack of time before my start date that they will test on-site. If they do, unless I come up diluted because of my drink, (which I've used the drink-albeit a different one but still a detox drink all the same-in the past and passed, so I'm a little familiar with the drink) I'm sure I will pass, as I passed an at-home test yesterday morning with nothing more than 2-3 glasses of water in my system. I still don't know what lab they're going to send me to, as I haven't gotten my new-hire paperwork yet; I should have it by today.

So in the meantime...I'm drinking a good amount of water...not really enough to completely dilute, (still has faint color to it) but a lot more than I usually consume, so as to try to flush out as much THC as I possibly can before tomorrow. (being that I already passed the at-home test, i figure it's not really an unrealistic idea, but whatever I can get out just works to my benefit, I figure) I read into the Dilution technique, and although I'm not going to follow it to the letter based on already having this drink, I figure I'll try taking some aspirin before going to bed tonight and when I wake up tomorrow, and accompany tomorrow's dose with some Tums I have around here. I may also try drinking a small bottle of gatorade with salt prior to taking this drink so as to prevent the test from coming back diluted. Other than that...I'll just continue sweating bullets as I have been for the past two days and hope for the best. I'll post my results when I know.

PS - Although it sucks for me to have to abstain on my birthday, (especially when I despise drinking) I'm thinking I will. I have read some other threads and seen posts about people who left the testing center confident, lit up soon thereafter, and got called back in to retest. I'd rather re-test being over 3 weeks clean (as I would be by the time I got called back in to do it if need be) than freak out even worse than I am right now and know that there's no possible way my urine is in any way clean enough to try to skate through like I am right now. Thanks for the advice, Forum.

Okay, so I got my paperwork. LabCorp is doing the test, but it doesn't specify on my paperwork what kind of test is being ordered. I'm sure it's a standard test, though. I'm going tomorrow, adhering to the procedures I listed above, so wish me luck forum!! I'll be sure to post results once I'm made aware of it.

Well...I took the test. That drink completely effed my stomach up, and pretty much emptied my body of everything. (if you know what I mean w/o getting TOO graphic) I finished the water part of it around 9:30 this morning, and took my test a little before noon. I took 3-4 aspirin before going to bed last night, and 3 aspirin along with a total of 5 Tums throughout the morning. (although I'm not quite sure if most or any of it actually stayed in my system long enough to do anything) I also drank about 8-12 extra oz. of water about 1/2-1 hour before going to the lab. By the time I went to the lab and gave them my specimen, my void was greenish-yellow and smelled of vitamins.

So Mods...do you think I have anything to worry about, especially given that two days ago I naturally passed an at-home test? There was a number on the sheet they gave back to me and it instructed me to call it...so I did. They took my phone number, and said if there was anything they needed to discuss with me in regards to the results that they would call me, but otherwise they would just send my results to my employer. I don't know if that means they'll call me if I test positive for anything; I didn't want to flat-out ask, either. Anyone's input would be greatly appreciated.

That was one of those detox drinks that had a lot of fiber in them, that's why. Anything is possible but you can't do anything now and you probably have a great chance of passing.

I don't know why they told you to call the number, the MRo will definetly call you if anything shows positive or abnormal with your specimen.

Given that is was more than 2 hours between the time you finished drinking and the time you actually took the test, I am going out on a limb and say that I don't think you were too diluted. Expecially given the side effects of the detox drink (I believe it was the creatine in the drink causing the keyhole effect). Do a search using the keyword "keyhole" if you want really good laughs.

If you don't hear from the MRO by next Thursday, you probably never will.

So...it's Tuesday...two business days since I took the test.

I have been working for the past two days, and have been checking my cell phone every five minutes for the MRO to call, but I haven't gotten the call yet.

My predicament pretty much sucks because since I'm already working, I have no reason to call HR and see if they got my results back. If I passed, more than likely, my employer already has my results...but I can't find that out. So basically, I just have to wait (impatiently) until probably Friday and just assume I passed given I don't get a phone call by then.

I must say...this is so nerve-racking and such a pain to have to go through. I can already tell that I am going to absolutely LOVE my new job...but I can't fully enjoy it yet since I don't know if I'm going to be able to stay. I was at my last job for a year and a half, took a pre-employment test and passed with no worries because I had been clean for two months, knowing I was going to look for another job. In this case...I got too comfortable with not worrying about any consequences to smoking, started using pretty frequently...then quit my job to move. I immediately cut down my usage a LOT, but not working was such a stress factor to me, and I was also having a lot of relationship problems at the same time, so I wasn't ready to completely give it up. When I knew it was coming down to being absolutely crucial for me to quit...I did. I'm in the predicament I'm in right now mainly due to irresponsibility on my behalf, but I didn't even apply for this new job until close to a week after quitting, and I didn't think it was going to pan out, especially as quickly as it did. I have almost nineteen days of being clean backing me up, along with that detox drink and a negative at-home test two days before the actual test...but my mind hasn't been right since the day I found out I got this job, and immediately thereafter realized a drug test was waiting. I've been stressed out about this for a week now, haven't slept well since then, and won't until either I get a call from an MRO telling me I failed, or three days from now when I just don't hear anything. I told family I got this job, and immediately regretted ever saying I got the job because if I do find out I failed, I have to go back to them and make something up as to why I didn't get the job. I'm really NOT irresponsible like this...and that's what kills me the most.

Moral of the story is...if you know a drug test is on the horizon, QUIT. Going a few weeks without (as I have) is MUCH less of a hassle than feeling the way I've felt for the past week, and I'll continue to feel this way until Friday...which sucks so much.
