| So I was offered a job offer with a really small 12 person outfit, manager seems really cool. So I recieved the offer, I asked if there was any pre-employment information that I needed to know about, and I never heard anything about a drug test. Let me also let you know that the job is within the design community and drug testing is pretty rare. Considering the company has not spoken to me about possibility of drug testing, already told me I have a job, and spoke to me about job benefits and salary, do you think I have anything to be worried about. I can't call under a fake identity because they did not advertise the position through typical hiring portals. I feel oddly comfortable about not getting tested, but wanted to hear anyone else's ideas, suggestions, and thoughts. Thanks for being such a great community. |

| I am in a very similar situation. I'm pretty much hired, and nothing was said about drug testing, just waiting to hear back about some details. I might be starting as soon as Wednesday. I know an employee of this company, and asked her about drug testing, and she said she never did a pre-emp. or random, and never heard any news of testing in this company. Just in case, I am still abstaining so I won't have to start all over again, plus, with my THC test strips, I'm curious to see how long it will take me to clean out. About 6 years ago, when I was going to work in the oilfields, every company I called mentioned drug testing right up front. |

I was able to meet one of the guys and talk to him about the process beforehand. I did'nt have to pry much to get him to mention "urinalysis". I will be tested Monday and I'm clean. | ^^I had my second interview and already negotiated salary and we have agreed upon a start date. The only thing I have not done is started to work yet. Essentially I have a written offer of employment. I am not familiar with any of the employees and dont see the oppurtunity arising to meet them before the start date. It just seems odd for them not to spring a urin test on me before this point. Unless they make me do it the first day that I am there, but that would be odd, right? |

| If you're that worried, take a sub in on your first day. Believe me, I understand the worry. I would imagine somewhere in the offer that if your employment was contingent on a certain basis (i.e. Drug Screen, Background Check), it would be stated. |

| That would be a "conditional offer of employment". puntteam is correct, if it doesn't say "contingent on the background, pre-employment process, or drug testing", then you should be ok. |

| As I imagined, the design firm that I accepted the position with did not drug test me. I am clear!! Anyways, in today's age it is good to see a few companies left who believe in the best intentions of their employees. Thank you to everyone who replied, your words of wisdom made me feel better... Down with drug testing, up with trust. |
