| I have to travel about 10 hours.. flying and then on bus. After that, im not sure if i'm going to be taking the test immediately.. or the next morning. If i were to use the substitution method, would it be possible to bring a frozen bottle along with me? Or would it go bad? |

| If you were sure you were going to take the test the day you flew out I don't think it would be a problem to leave the house for the airport with it at room temp and then bringing it up to temp. If you need it for the next day and you froze it and then left for the airport, that would buy you a little more time before it started going bad, say 6 hours give or take (plus once it reached room temp it would have another 8 hours before it started going bad). I imagine you will be in a hotel overnight and hopefully access to ice. That would probably solve all your problems except getting a bottle of frozen piss on the plane with the liquid restriction rules. I wouldn't want to check it and then have your luggage lost and be SOL. |

| I doubt you'd ever get it on the plane.

| I travel frequently and have a serious interest in the security screening for domestic travel, and write about it frequently here and elsewhere. I have several sources to TSA policy and procedures, and at the request of another member here, investigated this question. Because there are very dangerous chemicals (organic peroxides) that are stable frozen, but form explosives when at room temperature, the TSA directs screeners to take additional caution when finding frozen, unexplained liquids. In other words, you would have some explaining to do. Ultimately the screener is required to notify their supervisor for a determination of the item's security risk, and it would be a significant delay. When asked about urine - my source referred me to the TSA policy on medical transport of human blood, organs and lab specimens. The first question asked is if there is a chain-of-custody.

| Get Quick Fix 4.0 if you're going to sub. It works every time. So, that takes care of the problem of keeping it frozen. Get a travel size (2oz - 2.5oz) shampoo bottle, empty it and clean it so it is completely sterile. Put your Quick Fix in the bottle and the bottle in your luggage. Check the luggage into cargo, don't carry it on. If you're scared they'll lose your suitcase, then pack 2 suitcases with a "shampoo sample" in each suitcase. This should double your chance of your sample making the journey. Besides, urine is not illegal, and Quick Fix has no scent. How long is your bus ride after you get off the plane? If you think they may take you to the test immediatly, you'll need at least an hour with a heat pad to heat up a room temperature sample to the proper temp to sub with (90-98 degrees F.) I suggest you ask your employer about the plans concerning your travel. As long as your questions don't seem suspicious, you're fine. It's not a red flag to ask about wherever the hell they are sending you and how it's going to happen. What you're trying to do isn't impossible if you do it right. Do research, use your head, and I think you can pull it off.
