Ok here's the story

Had not smoked in years and then started up in January. Smoked pretty heavily (3-4 times a day) from mid-January until March 23. Gave a urine sample yesterday (April 20). I had not smoked at all for exactly 4 weeks. From the time I stopped smoking until I gave the test I followed the advice of some friends and did as follows:

Drank on average about 3 liters of water a day. From reading these forums it turns out that its pointless to drink lots of water until the day of the test, but I did not know this. However it was always cold water, so I'm thinking that it might have at least helped me to burn some calories.

I worked out every day for about a week and a half - an hour on an eliptical machine each day (I lost about 6lbs in that time). I stopped working out a week before the test because I didn't want to be burning fat (and with it, putting THC in my blood stream).

About 5 days before the test I started eating lots of red meat (hamburgers and steak) up until the night before the test.

The night before the test I took an at home drug test (First Check Home 12 Panel Drug Test - 50ng/mL cutoff). The THC line was definitely a bit more faint than the others, but you could clearly see it. At the time, I didn't realize you were supposed to use your first void in the morning for these tests. However, when I used it my urine was not very diluted - if at all (I hadn't drank more than 40 oz of water the entire day).

That night I also took 3 aspirin. (Sometime around 1am) and took about 2000mg of vitamin B (two tablets)

The next morning I got up around 10, voided, and drank a glass (10oz) of water. With it I also took about another 2 aspirin and another two vitamin B. I waited until 12, voided again, and drank another glass of water. I then waited another hour (1pm), voided again, and drank another glass of water. I drank another glass around 1:30, and then went and gave a sample around 2:30. The sample definitely looked a little diluted, but it was by no means colorless.

Simple question: what are the chances I passed? It was a split sample, so I'm pretty sure I just need to get past an EMIT test.

very good chance, took all good methods to clean out besides the water intake at first, and exercise is the best clue that you were cleaning out, and the dilution method is followed, just wondering if you ate many salty foods, although if the sample isn't tested for pH you should be fine, i cant say yours wasn't, but most don't unless its for probation or drug and alcohol counseling.

Skatingstoned, your advice is always a little off the mark. It is close to being right but not quite. If you notice the original poster used the term split sample. He seems to know a little bit about his drug test and drug tests in general based on his post too. So by using the term split sample, it suggests that he went to lab such as Quest or Labcorp. It is standard procedure for these labs to do validity testing on the sample including specific gravity, pH, and almost always creatinine clearance. You said this though and it is really inaccurate.
Validity testing is not just done for those or probation or alcohol or drug counseling. A huge number of people are taking tests for employment and they have a much greater chance of undergoing validity testing then not. Also, ph isn't used to determine dilution. It is specific gravity and creatinine clearance.

With the time you were clean and what you did, I'd say you should be ok. I would have taken more asprine, as the main thing. The dilution sticky says it all.

EDIT: Maybe use Gatoraid or a sports drink next time, with some salt in it. Helps to keep the specific gravity up. Add salt. Creatine supplements always help, as I found by testing with validity strips this (for me) seems to be the greatest challenge to keep in range. Again, see the dilution sticky.

Oh yea, and if you have ANY test coming up, QUIT NOW! Is this worth jail or losing this $$$ ? NO! If you think so, you'll probably end up like this .

i know what you mean fakeboobs, i mean a test strip, which has the control band and substance band doesnt check for pH, but does with creatinine levels. but i do have high hopes for this guy.

Ok, its been a full week since I gave the sample (gave it on 4-20). On tuesday I emailed the woman in charge of hiring me because I had to give her some information and also to let her know that I had taken the test because she'd asked me to notify her so she could track it. Within about 30 mins, she emailed me back saying that she had "finished my paperwork today" and was wondering when I could start. Is it possible that she could have gotten the results back that quickly? (gave sample on friday afternoon, got email on tuesday afternoon). The test was done by labcorp.
I know they usually don't ask about start dates until after everything checks out, but she knew when I finish school and basically was wanting to know how long after I finished for the semester I would want to start.

How long does it usually take them to get the results back if it is negative?

Also, what's the timeframe for hearing from an MRO if it was positive? (shortest amount of time to the longest)?

If it was dilute, I would have heard about it by now right?

Basically, I need to know if I can breathe a super tiny sigh of relief yet, or if I should continue chain smoking (cigarettes) and not getting any sleep cuz I'm so damn worried.

It sounds like you passed and got the job Electro. Congratulations. You have had time to hear from the MRO and they have had time to get the results back. Good luck with your new job.

Negatives can have results back in 24 hours. Positives take a few days longer.

For sure you could have negative results back on Tuesday.
