I’ve been reading these forums since last Tuesday when I got notice I would have to take a pre employment drug screening for a new job. My data:

170lbs
Somewhat active….I go to the gym 2/3 days a week.
The last time I smoked was the weekend of 420. Friday/Saturday nights I probably had 3 bongs, with a small bowl on Sunday night. That Sunday was the last time I smoked. Prior to that and for probably the past 6 months I have been smoking 2 nights a week (Friday and Saturday), usually 2 bowls a night.

So, last Tuesday I get notice I will need to take a drug test for my new job. No sweat I figured, I’m not starting for a close to a month so I have time. WRONG. I get the official offer letter and need to take my test within 24 hours. This was yesterday afternoon.

So, I immediately go to Wal-Mart and buy two at home tests, a bottle of B vitamin complex and aspirin. I get home and take the first test. No dilution. I used the mid stream and I passed (it was a faint line).

So, this morning I wake up and take the 2nd test first thing. I did NOT use mid stream, but rather the very beginning (I wanted to see the “worst case” scenario). Again a faint line, but there was clearly a line.

So I start drinking. Between 7am and 11:30am I drank 96oz of water and took 10 B vitamin pills. Also took 4 aspirin, but I left the bottle at home on my way to work so 4 was all I got in. Another data point, I take creatine supplement for lifting (5grams/day). I upped it to 10 yesterday and this morning.

So I get to the testing center at around 11:30 and there’s a huge line. I have to really piss so I sign in and use the bathroom. The piss is vitamin yellow of course. About 20 min later I take the test. I had a fresh piss ready to go by then. I used mid stream, and it was vitamin yellow.

So that’s it. They told me they would get the results to my employer that day if I passed, but if I failed they would need up to 48 hours. They said my employer would call me to give me my start date if I passed, but here’s the kicker…they CAN’T give me that yet because I haven’t don’t the criminal background check yet. So of course I haven’t heard from them yet and I’m a little nervous.

So, what does everyone think? I WILL post back with more info as soon as I hear anything, but for now I’m still not smoking in case I drank too much water and need to retest.

I'm going the other way on this one. He had a lot of THC built up in his system. IF he isn't diluted, I'll bet he failed.

But then, I have been wrong before...

Not to be rude and redundant, but if you are applying for jobs in the future smoking pot is not the best idea. However, I do not know your situation so I am blindly giving advice. However, I think you will pass, especially if you were passing with a faint line with the home tests. I would call the employer and say, "I just wanted to make sure everything was fine and was looking to hear when I might hear back about a potential start date." IMO, this doesn't make you look guilty, but rather trying to open communication with your potential employer. Good luck and let us know what happens.

Yeah, I hear what your saying. Honestly the thought of a drug test didnt even cross my mind until I read the offer letter. Of course I'd anticipate this in the future, but I never even considered that I might need to take a drug test.

As a side question (that I'm sure has been asked before), whats the deal with the faint line? Does the intensity of the line mean anything?

Well, obviously I hope your wrong. I'm actually worried I might have been too diluted because I was practically swimming when I got to the testing center.

Well its been a day now and no news. Of course, they still cant give me a start date anyway because the criminal background check isnt complete and I still need to send them a copy of my license/birth certificate for employment eligibility verification.

I'm not really expecting a call for a negative at this point because that would be ther only news they have to give me, and of course, I know I'm negative anyway so why would they need to call....right?

I hope I am wrong too. To tell the truth, I didn't see the bit where you said you passed a home test with a faint line. Your chances are looking better. You probably were diluted, but that isn't the end of the world. Most times for pre-employment, you can re-test if your initial test is dilute negative.

You did drink an awful lot tho....

As of today I provided the company with all of my pre employment docs. I called them around 12:30 and left a message for my boss just to say I was checking in and wanted to make sure they had all my stuff. I got a call back a few hours later and he said "I have all your stuff". So, I asked if there was anything else I needed to do and he said no, but his assistant (the one who originally sent me the info on the drug test) would contact me next week if I needed anything else.

I dont know what to think now... He didnt say I failed, but he didnt say I passed either (which he shouldnt have to right, cause of course I know I passed .....

I dont know if this was stated or not but those home test arent that good, I took one the day before got the faint line and I hadnt smoked in 28 days, found out today I test positive for thc.
