All of these posts have been very helpful to me over the last few weeks, but I was hoping for some more specific reassurance. I was recently offered a position with a financial institution which of course has a urine pre-screen with GC/MS verification for all positive results. Luckily&incoincidently (but misrably) I quit smoking about 2 weeks before the offer. I have been in the hospility industry for the past 20 yrs. and never had to deal with this testing, until now that is. I had been smoke free for 20 days at the time of my test. Concerned that wasn't long enough to pass I, drank omni triple strength cleansing liquid followed up with 32oz. of water. Now 6 business days later(approx. 30 days smoke free) I get a call from the Human Resources Rep. I have to go back for a re-test today because my test was dilute. Unfortunately for me, if it comes up dilute again the offer will be retracted. The worst news is I've already gave notice&trained my replacement at the place I've been employeed at,in a management position, for 8 years now. Well anyway, I took a home test first thing this morning as soon as I got the call, and I passed it . I was stilll a bit nervous so I drank a cup of coffee(necessity),16oz. of gatorade, and 16 ounces of iced tea. Then I got really nervous because I peed clear for the next 2 hours. I then waited a third hour, then went for the re-test (and didn't drink anything 3 hours before the test). Well then it was a decent looking yellow. I figure I'd pass since I passed the home test, but do you think it will be dilute again? I start in 2 days --And I'm FREAKING out. FYI: I smoked quite heavily prior to 2/14/07 and only twice in march--but nothing in the last 30 days. I'm 5'4 F 30 yrs old and 165lbs. I think my metabolism sucks, but I'm pretty active. I guess all I can do is wait. Any reassuring comments???

You didn't drink anything 3 hours before your test? you are good. there should be no way in hell you tested dilute again. Congratulations on the new position!

No I didn't drink anything 3 hours before the test, but I did drink approx. 36oz. of fluid just prior to 3 hours before, and my urine was clear up until 20 min. before the test. When I noticed some yellow color coming back is when I drove down and took the test. It was a decent yellow and certainly not clear for the test,so hopefully it wont be dilute like you mentioned. Even if it's not dilute do you think I will pass since I passed that home test early that morning? It has been 30 days since I quit, but I have heard of some people failing at that point. Would it be a bad idea to call the MRO since it has been 2 days since the re-take and I already started the position that will be taken away if it's dilute or I fail? Could I say I just wanted to be sure I didn't drink to much water before this test since I found out I had to re-test after my A.M. coffee and 16 oz. glass of water that I start off with each morning(which is true by the way)or should I just wait to hear??Would I have heard if the results were positive by now?

It took 6 days the first time to tell you that you were diluted. It will take at least 6 days this time as well.

You will hear if you were dilute negative on Monday or at the very latest, Tuesday of next week.

I doubt that you will hear anything, because I believe you passed the test with no problems.

Don't call anyone. Just forget about it the best you can. I know you are worried, but stressing about it won't change the results. It will only make you crazy in the mean time. Try to put it out of your mind.
