Wink I do not know if they will drug test me...

Anyone with a bit of experience... help me out here ... if you can..

I found a company that I would like to work for. The interviews went great.. .etc etc. Basically... they came back to me with an offer. I have yet to accept it, but I would start before the end of the month. They are, I would say, "corporate", but nothing close to a Fortune 500 company.

Nowhere, at any time during any of the interviews, over the phone, or in person, did they mention that I would have to take a drug test. I've been clean for close to 3 weeks in anticipation for one. I was a moderate user... but the 3 weeks up until I quit, very light.

Anyway, is it SAFE to assume that they will NOT be drug testing me?
I would think that they would have told me about it before all the riggermorale.

Here is an address that may help you. It is courtesy of member Hawg's signature . Granted it is supported by a company that wants to sell you drug testing countermeasures so it could be biased. If it points you anywhere then just read about it in the urine or hair, saliva, blood testing forums and ask some questions after a little reading.

I wouldn't assume if wasn't getting a test. I would do the opposite.

I am in the same boat as you, as I have been already hired to work for a firm without any information regarding drug testing. Kind of sucks right? You don't really have any clue what is going on and you pretty much assume they won't drug test you. According to sec3 it seems like a company does not have to legally tell you about the drug test ahead of time. However, it would be somewhat odd to have you come in, take a drug test, have you fail, and then have the company have to wait another month or so to find another applicant for the same position. IMO, I don't think it will happen. But! my opinion does not matter and you should wait until your first day to light up. I mean it is only going to make the high that much better. Think about it as a celebratory toke that reminds you that you got the job and waited! That is what I am going to be doing.

I will wait for the day I get my job... maybe a week in to it, just to be sure. I've got some benefits coming, so I assume the insurance company may want a peek at my piss, for whatever reason.

I would wait to smoke when you get your first paycheck not before.... why take the chance? My company I didnt take the drug test till day 4 on the job .... that was the april 25 and I passed but I still anit smoking well at least I think I passed Im still work and My frist pay day aint for 2 more weeks appox

That seems like an odd practice, waiting four days into employment to do a drug screen. Did you know about the test on your first day or did you just wait it out randomly? I would have assumed you would have heard about the testing way before employment or at least on day one, but not that far into employment. If you had failed, for whatever reason, you should have the right to be royally pissed. IMO, you should have the right to say "fuck you", but I guess the man always wins.

yep I knew there was going to be a test but you never know... is all I'm saying ...why take the chance? smoking aint worth the JOB ..... I look clean cut 49 yrs old had only 4 jobs since I was 22 and I worked for very big companies ...I guess they was not worried that I would pass but had to have the test for the records.....

Right. No drug is worth losing your job over. My buddy recently called me and told me that he asked if there was any "administrative responsibilities" he needed to complete prior to starting work and they said no. He then proceeded to start smoking again, lol.

I think Purplesmoke was trying to gauge the company and its drug policies on the issue that there was no clear indication of a drug test. Its hard to believe a company would go so far as to hire someone, tell them a start date, and then make them come in for a drug test on day one. This is a similar situation, as to mine, in the sense that the company provided no information concerning the drug test, even after I asked if there was anything else needed to complete prior to starting work. I do however think that it is important to wait as your employer may have forgotten about the test or may want to spring it on you. In my situation I will wait, I would hate to look bad in my professional community because I lit up.

I've heard of a few companies that drug test you about a week after your first day. I'm assuming this is because they know that you may cheat. Honestly, If I were a company that was genuinely worried about drug use, I just wouldn't tell my employees. I want to see if they would pass a drug test when they least expected it. You know the crack and meth heads can pass after only a couple of days... and that's who I would be most worried about.

I accepted a job offer, but I don't start for another couple of weeks. That will give me about 1.5 months since I last smoked. I've also got a test kit handy, and I'll check the day before I start. The company is not listed on the companies who test site... but I will definitely add them on to the list if/when they do.

I did ask for an employee handbook, so I could see what their policies were regarding all of this. The response I got was "There isn’t anything I can send you at this point in time." I'm not going to take ANY chances.

Thanks for your input, ya'll. I will come back to the thread and let you know what happens.
