| In the past I always abstained and dilluted if I knew I might have a drug test. Not anymore! I had a pre-employment test (SAP 5-50 w/NIT) and substituted using Quick Fix. I was nervous as hell and I'm sure the woman collecting it could tell I was nervous. She sent me to the bathroom allowing me to close the door and lock it. The toilet water was not colored and the sink was not turned off. I quickly urinated (toilet seat still had someone elses urine on it) then removed the Quick Fix from it's nest between my scrotum and asshole. Temp did not register on the bottle thermometer. I emptied the contents into the sample cup. Temp registered a nice green 98. Those temp strips are real handy. Confident it was the right temp I turned it in. She checked the temperature very closely. Filled one specimen tube then checked again. She watched. She waited. I kept waiting for her to add some remarks to the form, but she didn't. She dumped the remainder of my sample marked the temp as passing. She also marked it as a single specimen collection. I'm going to assume that was all they needed. Anyway, barring any unforseen circumstances I'll be starting my new job shortly. Advice to anyone that plans on using substitution: Please read N2's thread on substitution. It is a wonderful Faq and had all the information I needed. Secondly, the only way I would have failed this test is through my own nervousness. Practice until you aren't nervous and remember that the person collecting the sample really doesn't know you are subbing. Also, I used a heating pad (of the microwave variety) purchased from a drug store and wrapped it around the Quick Fix. The heating pad raised the temp and maintained a nice constant temp for quite awhile. It was probably not needed, but it worked like a charm. I've read many posts by people using hot water or heating vents to raised the temp. The heating pad worked great as well. Anyway, that's my story so far. I'm going to assume I passed unless I missed something on the form. But from what I understand, if they accept the temp as being in the proper range then quick fix will work. Thanks to everyone for their advice and sharing their stories. It's the knowledge that I've gained here that helped me clear the last hurddle to a dream job. To anyone that hasn't substituted before: Practice several times a day for several days and walk into the testing center with confidence. |
