Hi, I just found out yesterday that I'll need to take a drug test for pre-employment. The last time I smoked was 3 days ago but I usually smoke every single day, Grade A quality so there's no way I could pass the test. However, I happen to have a very good friend who is clean and looks very much like me in my drivers license. I believe she could definitely pass as me in this picture. Do you know how much they scrutinize identification? Do they ask for more than one form of photo id for a typical pre-employment UA? I took the picture when I was sixteen, three and a half years ago so I believe that is a reasonable accounting for the slight difference in height and weight. Any suggestions on things I should do to prepare my proxy? Do you guys even think this is a good idea or should I just go for substitution?

edit: I'm going to Quest Diagnostics in case that makes a difference.

It's possible, when I went for mine they just asked for one form of ID. I had to sign and initial a couple things and that was it. Make sure she knows your address and phone number and even SSN if you are going to go through with it...

Make sure you and her both know you could be in serious trouble if she gets caught too. Plus you won't get the job.

and your phone numbers (evening and daytime) and birthdate, and be able to match your signature...

I look very closely at the DL when I feel that the photo's don't match or the picture is that old. I will actually hold it for awhile until I see a signature. If the signatures aren't similar, i will ask for a second form of ID.

I don't know. I said could be in serious trouble. Probably the judge would slap your pee-pee.

Hell yea they could arrest you. That is fraud. The question is WILL they bother?

I've seen sec3 say that it is also illegal to adulterate (or sub) a lawfully administered drug test. But the trouble to call the cops, wait for them, etc. for such a minor charge isn't worth it, they just call the employer instead.

But identity fraud is a bit more serious. I'd be VERY careful if you/her try this.

Oh yea, and if you have ANY test coming up, QUIT NOW! Is this worth jail or losing this $$$ ? NO! If you think so, you'll probably end up like this .

It worked!


I am so relieved. I was losing sleep over this the entire weekend. Granted this method will work for very few because my look-alike really looks so much like me in the drivers license picture and we get mistaken for sisters all the time. And of course I'm very lucky that she is drug-free and willing to go through it all for me. The woman at the lab didn't even look twice at the id! The only problem she ran into was that she couldn't pee enough at first and they would only give her a tiny bit of water every twenty minutes until she could go. But it's all good now and I'm so excited to start my internship
