Just failed 2nd drug test with an ltl trucking driving company. Last chance I am now probably going to be terminated from a job paying $1500 a week. The MRO just called me and I haven't called back yet- probably positive for cocaine. Any suggestions what to say to the MRO. I'm taking antibiotics but those would have been ruled out by the confirmation test. I probably can't get another trucking job but what about other types of jobs. I have a liberal arts degree but nothing specific. Would going to school for nursing or computers be a waste as nobody would hire me based on my past record or is it not too hard to hide the fact I tested positive. I would hate to work at McDonalds it will not pay the $2800 in bills I have a month and support my family. When I took the test the lady made me sign and initial the stickers before she placed them on the bottles and before I urinated to save time (I was trying to delay the test as long as I could while I drank lots of water to dilute). Could I use this against them since they didn't use the proper precedures of signing the stickers when they are on the bottle and signing the paperwork. The paper says I certify ...; each specimen bottle used was sealed with a tamper-evident seal in my presence; and that the information provided on this form and on the label affixed to each specimen bottle is correct. I signed it but didn't notice the fine print until afterwards.

All I can say is....you're screwed. GC/MS eliminates false postives. Anybody in the trucking industry should be prepared to sub every minute of every day. I feel for you that you are losing a good job, but only to a point. You must have known you would be tested for drugs and kept using without considering the consequences. You failed twice, not just once. It may be all for the best. "Coke is God's way of telling you that you make too much money."~former supervisor. Good luck finding another job.

You definetly will not be able to get another job with any trucking company that actually follows the regulations and submits a records request from your former company. You will have to sign an authorization for the former company to release the records, and the new company cannot put you to work without your authorization.- that is the bad news. The good news... You can go into any other industry you want, as long as you are not performing a safety sensitive position (truck driving, RR engineer, conductor, pilot or flight mechanic, flammable pipeline, etc....) Nursing is ok. They cannot share your drug and alcohol testing record with anyone without your authorization. If any drug is causing you this much disruption in your life, maybe it is time to seriously think of getting help for the addiction or dependency on the drug. No, there is nothing you can say to the MRO. The initialing of the seals is not a "fatal flaw". That is, while it is against the rules to do so, it is not such a grevious a mistake to cause the test to be cancelled. Besides, you signed & dated the form after you urinated, and the form basically says the same thing as the seals (stickers).

Well I called and got the bad news- positive for cocaine. I tried to use the antibiotics as an excuse and it didn't work. He asked if I had any medical or dental procedures but how would that explain cocaine in my system? I haven't heard any dentist or surgeons using cocaine. I did sign both the stickers and the paper work before I urinated and she just ripped a copy for me and I was gone. I did not see her put the stickers on the containers. I don't think that matters too much though. I guess I should have used Quick Fix in the Urinator. I heard I might have trouble with getting a nursing license so I might try computer training or flip patties. Thanks for replies even though this isn't a cocaine forum.
