I have been reading all about the dilution technique and I bought some home tests and validity strips off ebay. The strips I got test for glucose, protein, pH, and specific gravity. My question is: is testing for protein the same as creatine levels?

hmm i wish i could help ya on that im not sure... If your worried about creatine levels tho.. just go buy a bottle of creatine capsels from wal mart for 10 bucks. Take a lot of them at the minimum of 3 days before your test.
So say you have a week till your test. Take a lot every day until like 3 days before your test.

No, creatinine and protein aren't the same. Normal kidneys don't allow protein to be released.

rmish, I thought creatine was taken 3 days prior and up to the test??

Well I have taken the powdered creatine before, and it made me kind of sick. I have read that when you mix the powder with water, some of the creatine turns into creatinine before you even ingest it, and then once it hits your stomach acid, it breaks down even more.

Could you just add a little powder to your dilluted pee?

I would question that. I'm a vegetarian so I'm naturally on the low end of creatinine, above 20 but easily below that with 8 ounces of fluid. When I started taking the creatine suppliment, it took 2 days for me to be able to dilute without falling below 20. It makes me a little queasy but not so much if I eat soon after. You could increase your red meat intake to help raise your levels.

what about drinking beer to raise your specific gravity...i just drank three beers and pissed and it said 1.005 for gravity...is that high enough?

Drinking beer LOWERS the urine specific gravity. In fact, ANYTHING that humans routinely drink lowers the specific gravity. Drinking saltwater (as in seawater) will raise the specific gravity, but that is not that something that humans ROUTINELY drink.

im really considering just subbing....which seemed like no problem at first...until i read somewhere that the subbed pee only is good for about 8 hours unless it is frozen...

You are right about that though...ive tested 3 times and no protein
