I spent about an hour looking through posts so im not that guy that pisses people off asking questions that have been answered, but i had a few questions. Im taking a test for a job in like a week, so i took a home test with 50 ng cutoff, and passed. I was wondering how big the difference is between these tests, since i heard job tests generally have a 15 ng cutoff? I basically dont wanna dilute if i dont have to, but wonder if i still should. I smoked a lot, everyday, for about a year and a half, but havent at all for like three weeks. how worried should i be? is it true you only get tested at 15 ng if you fail at 50 ng? any help would be greatly appreciated.. thanks

Employment tests generally do have a cutoff of 15ng/mL for confirmation tests. The initial immunoassay test done at a lab is still 50ng/mL. IF it screens negative at the lab, only then is it sent through the confirmation process of the lower cutoff.

Really though, the two tests are equal. The reason the cutoff is different is because of the differences in the test. The first gives qualitative readings the other gives quantitative readings.

IF you pass the first, your specimen will never see the second.

so basically if i can pass at 50 ng now, i dont have too much to worry about, is that how i can intererpret what your saying? Should i be worried that the line was kinda faint?

Yea, that's what sec3 is saying.

Also for your information, an EMIT with 50 ng/ml cutoff tests for 31 different THC metabolites, while a GC/MS with 15 ng/ml cutoff tests just for the most common one. So there's not that much difference between the two tests if you think about it in that sense.

thanks so much for the help. i took the test after my like third piss of teh day with drinking very little, so should i not take the chance of diluting and drawing suspicion? thanks again

There is nothing, I repeat, NOTHING we can do with suspicion. Either the line is there and the integrity panel checks out and we tell the employer you passed..

or

The line is not there and/or the integrity panel is abnormal and the specimen is forwarded to a lab for testing.

Suspicion ranks right up there with speculation. It means nothing in drug testing.

We might suspect you are subbing, but unless you give us reason like off temp, off color (green or blue), allow us to see adulteration materials, etc, there really is nothing we can do with suspicion or speculation.

Well, I passed a home test about a week ago, and im getting preemployment tested in the next three days or so, and Im wondering if I should still use the dilution method to be on the safe side. It will be about 30 days since i last smoked, but im not exactly slim, so my metabolism isnt too fast, and i smoked a lot everyday for about a year and a half. The test I passed was not my first piss of the day (did it before i read the stuff on here), but the test I take wont be my first piss of the day either, and when i took the at home test i barely drank anything that day, just to add that. Also, I know any line means passing, but does the faintness of the line mean anything, (mine was fairly faint). Thanks

You added a week to a passed home test. As long as you didn't drink a tremendous amount of water before your home test you should be fine. If you really want to know buy another home test and check yourself in the morning.

well, it will be about 4 1/2 weeks clean, and a week since i passed a take home with 3rd piss of day drinking hardly anything, with a pretty faint line. i ran a dilution test run today, cause test is tomorrow, and with 10 B complex vitamins my urine is glowing yellow. i was wondering if too much color is a problem. i followed dilution instructions to a T, but im dead if i fail and dont get this internship. also, is just eating red meat every meal for 3 days enough to get teh right creatine levels. any advice would help, and thanks a good luck to all.
