| Hi everyone, Let me first give you my stats: 5'7, 135lbs, heavy smoker, a little athletic. I have been clean for 30+ days and I found out that I needed to do a drug screen for a new job. Well, I went out and bought a home testing kit and when I got the results I only saw a very, very, very faint line, but I was still negative. Before taking my test at the lab I drank some water and chewed some apspirin (4) a few minutes before I dropped. Well, I got some bad news.... I tested positive for THC. They used a test similar to the one I took at home and when I got the bad news I immediately threw a fit because there should have been no reason why I tested positive. To make a long story short, I was told that I can still have the job, but I wanted a retest anyway. I retested today and guess what???? NEGATIVE! What the hell!!! I just wanted to post this to show that if you fail the first time and you have been abstaining, fight to get retested because labs can make mistakes!!! |

| If they still offered you the job it was probably because you were at the threshold. I tested positive after 35 days of abstaining and it was right at the borderline. I took a test the next week and tested negative. It could've been that extra day or so that you needed. |

| Psyched, did you use the first void of the day? With the faint line you are close to the cutoff so sometimes little changes in volume intake or diet or exercise can make a difference with faint lines if the real test is the next day or two. |

| Immunoassay (strip) tests are 99% accurate. That means 1 out of 100 will give incorrect results. Generally, part of the sample is submitted for GC/MS testing when the results are non-negative. GC/MS is 100% reliable. Did the testing company get a GC/MS result for the first test or did they fail you based only on the strip test?
