wtf? failed after 2nd hand exposure 8 days ago?

ok this story is rather crazy

a friend of a friend that is a DR at a large medical facility was exposed to some 2nd hand smoke no more recent than 8 days ago

he had a random test at work today and failed for THC

i don't know the specifics of the test yet but i'm trying to find out - is this possible? it seems so remote! he does NOT smoke.

i know the testing was done in house, but as i said he works at a large medical facility that has its own labs.

I don't believe that 2nd hand smoke from 8 days prior caused anyone to fail a drug test.

our mutual friend, like myself smoke all the time - i mean every day. at no point has he ever smoked w/ either of us not once - he always turns away

ya i get your point did he really not smoke - but i don't think he's lying.

that being said, the science behind this all may not back that up - everything i have read is a guy who is 6' 180 should not fail a test on 2nd hand smoke from 8 days ago

one bad thing - he took no precautions like not even chugging a few extra liters of water and urinating a few times - so he may have been nailed with an early in the day urine.

still baffling

Why would anyone take precautions if they know they are going to test clean? Chugging a few liters of water would just cause you to be diluted.

If what you said is correct (he never used marijuana) then there would be no THC in his urine. Plain and simple.

The story is complete bullshit. People have tried to fail a UA by second-hand smoke to the point of hotboxing in a closet with four smokers. The results were negative the next day. Exhaled smoke contains less than 5% of the THC that the inhaled smoke had and you can't breath in an atmosphere of pure smoke so it would be less than that.

It's either a complete fabrication or the guy actually smokes but doesn't want to admit it.

thanks for everyone's advice on this. i talked to the mutual friend again this morning and we both have decided we were BS'd. its either a guilt thing to get my friend to stop smoking, or he wasn't honest about smoking. beyond that is a personal matter between them.

I just wanted to come here to see if it was possible, but from everything i understand here and other sources of information - mild 2nd hand exposure will not fail a piss test 1 week + later.

this forum has been a great source of info - saved my job last year

Intense exposure to second-hand smoke will not cause a positive on a drug test the next day.
