I have not smoked pot since high school. I am in my fifties, 6'1 and 210 lbs. I took maybe 5-6 puffs off a joint they were passing around at a concert in the open air. The date was September 13. Did I inhale enough to show up positive on a urine test?

I have not smoked since or ever will. Didn't realize that I would have a job opportunity coming up with a urine drug test. I have tested myself 3 days in a row and tested negative at 50 ng/ml...so I thought I was scott free. However, I found out the company does not use the immunoasssay with the 50 ng/ml. Rather it uses a more sophisticated test right up front, probably the GC/MS test and the cut-off level is 20 ng/ml.

My test is next week either the 13th or 14th and I'm really scared. I would prefer not to dilute or anything else. What do you think my chances are if I passed the home test at 50 ng/ml?

Also should I work out hard every day until my test? Or do I stop a couple days before the test. Should I drink a lot of water and cranberry juice everyday leading up to the test. And what about diet?

September 13th? Can you clarify? 2006?

Naw, I think you will be just fine. I believe you meant to say the concert was on the 1st or the 3rd of September (Labor Day Weekend?).

If your test is in 10 days, after only 5-6 drags from a joint, you should be ok. BTW: No test goes "straight to the GC/MS". They all use an immunoassay, even those sent to a lab.

You will be fine. Relax.

The date of the concert was August 13 2007, ZZ Top at Red Rocks. So it will be 29 days if I test on the 12th of September and 30 days if I test on the 13th of September.

I was unaware that they do the the cheaper test first. But when I called the lab they did say they tested for a 20 ng/cl cut off initially.

So I should be okay and don't really have to do anything than I normall do? That would be great re-assurance, besides the 3 straight negatives on the home test. Do you know of any home tests that have a cut off at 20 ng/cl.

The date actually was August 13th 2007, not September.

Sorry my last reply was incorrect as far as the date. It was August 13th 2007. Not Sept 13 2007. Any home tests have a cutoff of 20 ng/cl?

Please provide reassurance I will be fine without doing anything out of the ordinary. Thanks.

Thanks so much...it really means a lot to be reassured. So just to confirm...I should not do anything out of the ordinary....work out real hard or take a lot of fluid?

Just take the test next week and I'll be clean.

Thanks again!!! Just one more assurance...that's taking into account the lower threshold of 20 ng/cl...not just the 50 ng/cl threshold? Right?
