My situation: I am taking a pre-employment DT in two days. I have been an avid pot smoker for sixteen years, with varying usage. Lately, I smoke about three times a day (two to three hits per session). When the job was offered (out of the blue), a week ago, I stopped smoking, started drinking copiuos amounts of water and cranberry juice, etc. I am a 34 y.o. male, 5'8", 175#, athletic body and a high metobolism (but maybe the metabolism is slowing in my middle age?).

So I just took a home drug test, one in which I had to look for two red strips, after ten minutes, that would indicate a negative result. The instructions noted that two red lines, even very fiant, would indicate a negative result. Well, the second line was very, very faint, indeed. Here are my questions:

1. How faint is too faint? My girlfriend confirmed that a second line had appeared, but agreed that its extreme faintness was worrysome.

2. I've purchased Strip inc. Natural Cleanser. What is the best way to use this? Will it work? A friend told me to drink it about two hours before my test, pee a few times, then go to the lab. While there, he told me to pee a bit into the toilet before filling the test sample bottle.

3. Any other advice?

They say a line is a line and if a line appears you will pass. If you want a little more reassurance study the dilution sticky and use that mildly. Also, my question is did you test your first mornings urine? That's when it is the most concentrated. You should get a darker line in the afternoon if you did test first thing. I hope this made sense. Those detox drinks, pills, etc. mainly work by dilution if it works at all.

It wasn't the first pee of the morning, so I'm going to hit another test in the morn. What does the concentration mean? My test will take place after 5:00pm. Does this make it more likely that I will pass?

BTW, thanks for the advice. I will check out the dilution sticky, for sure.

Also, another couple queries:

2. How long does it take to get lab test results? The reason I ask is that I would like to hold off smoking again until I am sure that I passed. That way, if a second test is needed, I will for sure be clean. I don't forsee them notifying me if I do pass, so I was hoping to get a guestimation of when it might be safe again (I have some real sweets waiting for me!).

3. A friend of mine deals with DTs for the state. She told me that the Claritan I take for allergies will skew the results, and that this will be taken into account in the final result. In the worst case scenario, they would make me take the DT again, which would give me more time to clean out. Has anyone else ever heard of this?

1. What I mean by concentration is the mj metabolites are stronger in the morning. During the day you are drinking fluids and urinating where at night your not so it builds up.

2. It is a good idea to not smoke till you are sure you passed the test. Actually don't smoke till you have your first paycheck.

3. If you are worried about a false positive, don't. There is no such thing as a false positives anymore. They have the GC/MS test if something looks funny.
