Hi everyone, I just accepted a job offer and am going to take a pre-employment drug test (urine) next Monday, October 22, and have a few (possibly ridiculous) questions.

For full disclosure, I've taken two "First Check Home Drug Tests" for Marijuana only in the past 12 hours and both came up negative. Took the first one last night after a big, fatty fast-food meal and then the other this morning during my first pee. Even with two negative results I'm feeling really nervous--a symptom of being so excited about my new job!

Now here's my smoking history:

I had stopped smoking for about 5-6 years, but for the last year (possibly a couple of months more), I've smoked *on average* once a month. Pretty good quality stuff, usually sharing a joint with a friend or two. My very recent history, which coincides with a few concerts I've gone to, is a shared joint on Sept 10, a shared joint on Sept 19, shared joint on Sept 20 and a couple of hits from a pipe on Sept 29. Before that, my last smoke out was August 2.

As you can see I am by no means a heavy, or even regular smoker, but the stuff I've been reading online suggests that because THC is stored in fat cells it takes a while for it to leave your system. I am 6' and about 205 lbs, so I have a pretty good layer of flab on me (probably 20-25% body fat)--will my fat ass betray me! haha

I hate to be such a pussy, but I am really excited my new job and don't want this to be f'ed up.

Any suggestions or even reassurances would be very much appreciated! Thanks so much!

You can pass this test. You passed 2 home tests and your smoking history is very light. I wouldn't be suprised if you were clean after a week following your last smoke. Remember, home tests are 99% accurate - and you passed one using the first void of the day, which is the 'dirtiest.' You still have another week of clean time to go, I'm confident you will pass.

thanks, vern! a little reassurance goes a long way! ;-)

now, to take this to a new level of ridiculous: i NEED to lose weight before i start this job, but if i try to lose weight really quickly (say 5 lbs in 2 weeks) could that possibly release THC into my system before my test? i just don't want to have to buy new clothes now and then again in like 2 months! ;-)

just got the form from my new employer and I'll be getting the SAP 5-50 GC/MS test. if the 50 means 50 ng/ml then i think i'll still be alright!

Lose all the weight you need to in 10 days. But about 3 days prior to your drug test, take another home test using your first morning pee 9don't drink water throughout the night. If you test negative with that test, you are fine for the employers test.

If you don't test negative during that test, then turn into a couch potato for the next three days.

I anticipate no problems in two weeks with your drug test, even if you go on a crash diet.
