I am in my mid 50s and have smoked since I was 13. I weigh approx 200 pounds. I'm due to be drug tested for long term care insurance. Will testing positive for pot mean I cannot be insured? No date has been set for the test. I've been clean for 2 days. I take a diruretic daily and have for years for blood pressure. I take zinc suppliments daily and have for years. I am also now 30 pounds lighter than I was 3 months ago. Does persperation help eliminate the metabaloids? What do I need to do to pass this test. I don't expect it to happen for at least 14 days.

Yes, they can deny you for insurance if you come up positive for mj or any other type of drugs that are not prescribed to you. My mother was trying to get some life insurance and they wouldn't give it to her because she tested positive for morphine that was prescribed to her. She is terminally ill. I knew it wasn't going to work mainly because of that.

If you have tested negative on a home test though you will pass a real test. I'm not very familiar with the test strips but I am assuming those are the instant tests. I am not sure if they are as reliable as a actual home test kit. Maybe someone else can come along and shed some light on that subject. I would get a home test kit myself and if I passed that I know I will pass the real thing. If for some reason you fail then I would look into either subbing or the dilution method. My preferance is the substitution. It's up to you whichever you prefer. Check out the stickies at the top of this forum and you can decide which is best for you.

Thanks 29yeartoker. I'm kinda freaking out here. Do you know if insurance tests are observed? I'm supposed to have a physical, blood work, and I assume BP check, listen to heart etc... Would you anticipate that I would be gowned for such a thing? I just don't know what to expect. I've never talked to someone that has had to be tested.

For my mother they came to her. She didn't have to go through an entire physical like you are. I have read on here about those type of tests though. If you are gowned it will be hard for you to sub. You will most likely have to use the dilution method. I would start by getting several home tests to monitor your progress. Follow the dilution method to the letter and you shouldn't have any problems. Check out the sticky at the top of this forum. I wish you luck!
