I am in the market for a new job, I will take the appropriate measures in order to pass a drug test if i absolutely have to. But I have no intentions to stop smoking. I was wondering, what do you all do for work? Do you have any companies, or types of businesses that you'd recommend me checking out that DON'T test for drugs (as i am totally against drug testing)? If not, did you dilute or detox for your drug test? It's a scary world out there for us weeders, and i think my principles are getting the best of me in this job search.

Well are you looking for a bitch job, a pizza delivery person is a good job. You can even blaze while you go out for deliverys if you really want. Some grocery stores do not along with movie theaters. If you want to make more than $8.00 and hour you are most likely going to have to take a test. As long as you dont smoke for 48 hours you can pass a urine test by using the dilution method. Or you could always substitute.

Food Service jobs usually won't test. Sadly, in America most of the decent jobs will test you. I successfully substituted last week for a pre-employment drug screen.

You may want to check out small businesses in your area. A few friends after college didn't want to bother with a UA so they found jobs with smaller, locally owned companies that didn't want to spend the extra $$$ on UAs.

I work for a mom and pop owned, kitchen and bath design and installation company. The boss/owner smokes after everyone goes home. We constantly find the can he uses in various places around the office. It is safe to say I will never be drug tested working there.

as said kitchens/restaraunts are a good place but not deffinately dont want to work their for your whole life,let alone a few years, unless your some type of gourmet culinary artist

I work at a British Pub/Restaraunt as a cook, I work alone most of my shifts, it's a small family owned place.. and they know I smoke (they dont' know I do it there, hehe) but if the bosses aren't around, They come in few a hours a day then goto bed around 9pm, one of them will bartend for a few nights a week. I usually bring a joint or my one hitter if I have nugs. I make $11 an hour, which isn't a lot but it works for my lifestyle, plus nothing beats blazing at work. Plus it's a hell of a fun place to work. Working for the British is interesting to say the least.

You can't make generic blanket statements about one profession or trade drug testing or not.
It's all up to the individual employer as to whether or not they will test new hires.

I'll agree that food service (namely waiters, busboys, etc.) typically don't drug test, but you can't say that it's a guarantee, either.

You're going t have to apply for different jobs and if you get an offer, they'll tell you whether they require a drug test.

If you want to work at a call center (I don't recommend it much), Convergys doesn't drug test. At least the ones in Canada don't.
