The dilution trick

Do I have to do the dilution trick in the hours prior to my piss test? Or can I just do it now and be clean when it comes time to test?

No it must be a few hours before your test. I does not cleanse your system, but it just temporally dilutes your urine so you fall below the cutoff levels for the test.

Alright,

Say I have a drug test a 4pm. Would it be alright if I finished the diluting by noon that day? Or should I try and finish it closer to when I have to test?

It all just depends on you. 4 hours might be cutting it close. Just use the times that are listed in N2s tips for dilution and you should be fine.
