Hi all. I'm new here, obviously. Stumbled across the forum in a frantic search for info regarding drug testing. Anyhow, I have the opportunity for a most excellent job, and unsurprisingly, they want me to drug test prior to hiring me. Here are the details: I've been smoking at least two bowls of relatively high quality stuff daily for the past 3-4 years (I go through maybe 1/8 oz. a week, on average). There will be the occasional off period where I will go days to weeks without smoking, but for the most part, intake has been pretty consistent. I'm a male, about 5'7"-5'8". Honestly, I don't have a working scale so I don't know how much I weigh at the moment, but it's most likely between 135 and 145 lbs. I'm pretty skinny, but relatively inactive (i.e., no regular exercise routine or anything like that). As far as I know, I'm in charge of setting the test up myself, though I don't want to do it any later than earlier February. I still have to do some planning and looking over things to make absolutely certain this is the job I want, regardless of the drug test. Currently, I've only been weed free since yesterday (12/20). My current plan is simply to drink plenty of water every day (eight 8 oz. glasses or so), continue to abstain from the drug, start walking/jogging/running on the treadmill daily, and take fiber supplements and B-vitamins daily. Taking my history into account, could anyone here give me an idea of how safe I'll be testing 4+ weeks from now? Is there anything additional I should do, or anything I should be concerned about? I've seen reports of the THC metabolites staying in one's system for as long as 12 weeks, and that worries me A LOT. Thanks for any help anyone is able to offer.

First off you need to know what kind of test they are going to do. I was recently in the same position as you and I got the terrible news that I was going to be hair tested. If you are going to be hair tested the only thing you can do is trim your body hair (they WILL find hair somewhere to pluck though) so don't cut it too short. You can try those bleaching solutions and all that jazz but I am not convinced they actually work. If you are urine tested, buy a home test and you should be ok if you don't smoke for a good 2-3 weeks. If you don't have this much time DO NOT EXERCISE as this will make your body process the THC faster and eat high fat foods so it is stored. If you do have a good amount of time you should exercise as much as you can and eat low fat foods so you can try to get the THC out of your system. A few days before the test buy yourself a home test kit and see if you pass or not. If you don't you might want to consider substitution (really the best option IMO). Good luck!

I have at least four weeks until I take the test. Maybe closer to 5 or 6, depending on how confident (or unconfident) I feel about the whole thing. Unfortunately, I don't know what type of test they'll be utilizing, but I'm pretty sure it will be a urine test. Hopefully I'll have a better idea when I receive the offer letter and associated paperwork in the mail sometime in the next week or so.

I ran a search for the company on one of those employer database things, and although there wasn't a listing for the specific state I'll be working in, there were numerous listings for the company in other states. Almost all of them were listed as being a urine test, with one of them being a blood test. edit: I really really don't want to sub or dilute if I don't have to. This is basically a result of paranoia and being concerned that somewhere along the line, I'll make a mistake, miss a step, or get caught and then be totally out of luck. If I abstain, exercise, drink fluids, and take normal doses of fiber supplements, do you think 4-5 weeks will be long enough to clear the stuff out of my system normally? For what it's worth, I've basically weighed the same for the past five years, if that's any indicator of my metabolism. If I were to sub, it would have to be synthetic urine of some sort, as I don't know anyone I could obtain a sample from. That being said, is there a way to know in advance if the test will be observed? I don't want to spend money on quickfix or one of those urinators or whatever, then walk into the testing site and have it be discovered immediately. That wouldn't look too good for me and would basically guarantee I don't get the job. Keep in mind, subbing is an absolute last resort option. I would really prefer to just clean up normally within the time span allowed. Last edited by betamax999 : 12-22-2007 at 06:20 PM.
