Hey everyone, Has anyone used the one-panel (THC only) test strips from American Screening? Originally I wanted to post a warning, because they showed me as negative after 4 days of no smoke (chronic for years, medium-quality, took 4 aspirin but no extra water, as per the Dilution sticky), and negative again after another 7 days (11 days total) but you guessed it - I failed. I'm 5'6, 110 lbs, fast metabolism but still, I know common wisdom says 30 days to be clean. I will say that the prospective employer wouldn't give me a straight (hah ha) answer about the type of test that was done, but I couldn't really ask too many questions because I had no privacy when they called. They claimed they do the EMIT and the gs/mc (sp?) on all samples, but that doesn't make sense: why not just do the gs/mc and skip the expense of the EMIT? However, the other dip strip that tests creatinine, SG, pH, etc - that you dip, blot and compare the colors with those on the bottle - allowed me to mix quite a bit of water into my pee without showing any evidence I'd spiked it, when I was job-hunting a year ago. (I eventually found a job with a company that doesn't drug-test, so it was a moot point.) By "quite a bit", I mean 85% water, 15% pee. The products are still within their expiration dates, haven't been exposed to extreme heat or cold, and are still individually sealed. Has anyone else had experience with this company? I'm wondering now if I should just get the horribly expensive ($16 - 17 apiece) kits from Walgreens or if American Screening is the way to go. BTW, I've ordered some QuickFix in case I ever get another job offer and have stayed away from smoke to be on the safe side. ![]() Last edited by Washerwoman : 04-26-2008 at 06:15 PM. Reason: specify ration of water to pee

The EMIT is done automatically by the laboratory. IF on the emit, it shows a "non-negative" result, the specimen is then, and only then, sent through the confirmation test which is the GC/MS. Some employers use an instant test on site. IF that test shows a non-negative result, then the specimen is sent to the lab where...(see first paragraph). It is cheaper for the employer to do this because obviously not all people will fail and if the employer doesn't have to pay for the lab test, then that saves them money. You say that your instant tests have not been exposed to extremem cold or other environmental stresses, but you don't know that. You have no idea what type of shipping was used from the factory to the warehouse or if that warehouse was a controlled environment or not.

Thanks, Sec. You're right, I don't know about the shipping conditions, but one would hope that if they needed special handling AmScreen would specify that in the shipping instructions and/or package them in such a way as to make it unlikely. One could say the same thing about Walgreen's home tests too. I'm not trying to pick a fight with you, just sayin'. So I'm thinking it was cheap materials. The integrity strips showed questionable results too. Anyway, I'm done with that company. I've stayed away from weed and plan to dilute too, if I ever get another job offer. This is a great site. I so much appreciate everyone's sharing of experience and wisdom.

Hah - and then it isn't like you can call up their customer service and demand a refund: "Your strips showed I don't toke, then I failed the drug test!" Then sit back and wait for that knock on the door....
