Yeah it really hasn't caused any ill taste... still I'd like to get rid of it if I can just for the sake of perfectionism.

Dan from VG told me not to worry about it, it won't affect the performance. Fair enough. He also said it'd burn off in time. We'll see. That might be the most true if I do switch to using a blue torch lighter.

I've been giving some thought to finding a good refillable lighter for using with the VG... blue torch has a few advantages... it burns cleaner, they are wind proof (a far bigger consideration when operating a VG than it is for lighting pipes, cigarettes or cigars). The risk is of course a greater chance of torching herbs...

But one of the biggest considerations has to be how long it operates before refilling and finding a large refill cans. I'm going through lighters like crazy and I hate the waste it's generating. Even those smaller butane refills are going quick and generating waste...

I have a couple of Colibri torch lighters; excellent flame adjustability and refillable. Paid about 30 bucks or so.
Yea, I know that ain't cheap but I take good care of my stuff so after 2 years use they've already paid for themselves. I also use the best quality butane available.
Love a clean burn...

BTW, I was able to remove the rest of the soot with the blue flame method... had to have enough wine not to be concerned about inhaling burned off soot...

Along with Colibri, Visol is a good brand. I've found that elighters.com is good for best price and selection. Colibri butane is high quality too. Buying the cheapest butane you can find is not recommended.

You can order them straight from vaporgenie for $25... it's the whole top (with the ash or oak exterior and the ceramic filter inside).
