I know this is a very noobish question but i dont have much experience with vaporizers and im confused if this is smoke or vapor |

| If you're saying that when you exhale after taking a hit you see a smoke like substance, then what you're actually seeing is vapor...

| I'm a new VG user myself (two weeks)... If there's any doubt that what you're seeing is smoke or vapor, it's probably vapor. I haven't scorched anything with the VG yet, but I've used the ridiculous Ubie before and scorched enough with that that I know it's unmistakable when you cross over to smoke. The smell and the feeling on your throat and lungs is obvious. As for any vapor escaping... I've noticed on a couple of occasions a slight wisp of vapor rising from the filter... I think if I continue to inhale for a moment after releasing the lighter flame that would have been inhaled. So maybe you are holding the lighter too long after you stop inhaling? |

| Basically you want to put enough heat down the hole to feel it in your mouth/throat but not actually burn the herb. If you open the bowl and your herbs are black (or scorched) then youve applied too much heat. You will notice the crappy taste of the smoke when you do. How i do it with my genie- Put the flame down the hole and draw until i feel the heat in my mouth. Then I start puffing until i see vapor. Once i see vapor I start inhaling deeply while trying to maintain the current heat level. Too do this I simply remove the flame and reapply over and over until i get my hit. hope this helps Toke

I either scorch the herbs I use(don't think I'm allowed to say cause it's a legal?)cause I taste smoke(and it's harsh) and it's black.I get nothing at least that's visible when I don't scorch, or is it hard to see vapor? How do you people clean these btw? |

| Well I just had my first mishap with the VG... I lost control of the flame and it dipped in a bit too much. I immediately checked the filter and to my dismay saw a black mark along one edge. But I'd seen directions on the site: VaporGenie Quote:
I did my best to try the blue flame method, but I would only do it with a vacuum cleaner... they actually suggest inhaling which seems nuts... anyway the vacuum sucked in the air far too strong, it made the blue flame very thin and made it impossible to direct it at anything. Never got the filter to glow dark red either... Has anyone else had similar issues with their VG? I just contacted the VG folks via email... should have a reply soon... but I was wondering if anyone else had other ideas... BTW, I found the instructions on the site pretty vague. Especially considering it calls for dealing with boiling water and very hot blue flame lighters, it makes no mention of taking safety measures. It's common sense of course but there are lots of people who don't use common sense. Plus, I mostly had to figure out my own method for using the boiling water... and the blue flame method left me completely baffled. | |

| A torch lighter (blue flame, as they call it) doesn't deposit any soot. And as the instructions say, it will actually remove soot. My advice would be to use the torch lighter with any vape that requires a flame and soot will never be an issue. It takes a little more care, obviously. For cleaning the already deposited soot, just use the torch at low flame, if adjustable, and pull gently. Not surprised a vacuum cleaner isn't working well. I also wouldn't worry about getting every tiny bit of soot removed. A regular lighter is always going to produce soot because it's not hot enough to completely burn the carbon that's produced when butane is broken down into its components-hydrogen and carbon. |
