you *can* but you really dont need to and i would think that the friction caused from that would have a negative effect on the gg connection.

the ssv also come with an optional hands free adapter, it is an aluminum slide that you place over the wand, allowing a much more stable wand when in place than a gg connection can offer.
heres a video i made awhile ago showing the slide-

Nice video tokin. The $14 adapter is the way to go for hands free SSV for the long term. No worries about the gg connection holding up.

I checked out a lot of your videos, tokinGLX. Thanks for taking the time to inform us about the SS and all. I was looking for a DB video from you but you don't seem to have one (except the DB vs Hammer video lol). Could you make a quick video review of the DB? I'd love to see it in action and I'd love to hear some comments from you about it on the video. By the way, go Colorado! I lived there for 16 years and I miss it a lot. For most of those years I lived in Golden.

DYG,

Go with the Da Buddha.

If they were cars, the SSV would be the one with leather seats, sunroof, premium audio, and sports kit added.

At the end of the day, the "guts" are the same... the SSV just has extras like the glass knob, different colors, and a heater cover.

The Da Buddha works great and you'll definitely appreciate being able to use it hands-free.

The real guts are the same-the stuff you can't see and the heating element that you can. I'm sure you're not saying the DB has no heater cover, since that's an essential part. If you're saying it has no color added, no big deal, and if you want color, it's only $5 extra.

You only mention the difference in looks, and assume that everyone wants hands free. For a lot of people, including me, a gg connection is not a plus. The bowl on the SSV is larger, making it easier to stir a good sized load. The outlet opening is smaller, allowing for a more narrow stream of air entering the bowl, and slightly changing the character of the vapor hit. It's easier to change screens on the Surfer too. It was well worth the extra $57 to me, and "extras" like the glass knob and color choice didn't enter into my decision at all.

I don't say 'go with the SSV'. I say know the differences and get the one you want.

golden is a nice place, i wouldnt mind living there if i found the right place.
i havent made any more db vids because the piece that got knocked loose in the hammer vid is still loose, i have to take the drive down to the factory and they are going to secure that back into place.

i more than likely can do something up tho, is there anything in particular you would like me to discuss about it¿

If you are going to do another video I suggest discussing the abv, wand cleaning and how wonderful the wand goo is.

Also show the screen changing, since I have not used an ssv I cant say for sure but the DB screen changing is simplistic but 5 drive states differently so the pepsi challenge as they say would be good regarding screen changes and possibly show some of the other differences between the too models as their seem to be a lot of questions regarding the differences between the SSV and the DB.

Have a question too, how easy would it be to pull the ssv and/or knock it over by pulling too hard with the wand which I can see easily happening when passing to someone or sitting back too far, especially after a few wands. I recommend ground glass as its all I really know but with the GG the connection will break loose easily making this a non issue. I know the construction is very good on the SSV so maybe pulling over may be a stretch but I can see it being pulled off a table.

Just some ideas, vape on!

Just wanted to say picked up a brand new all black ssv. Local smokeshop had them for 190$ which amazed me, thought i was paying 250$ for sure.

I have to say this vape is awesome. It just looks badass, none of my friends have seen one and there all surprised at how good it is, even the volcano owners.

Correct.

I meant to say the DBV doesn't come with a custom, colored heater cover as you get standard with the SSV.

As you note, the real guts are the same -- the heating element and internal electronics to make it work.

Since the "core" of both units are essentially the same (GG connection notwithstanding), the difference in price is mostly, if not entirely, due to the "extras" you get with the SSV.

For a lot of people, "easier to change screens" and "slightly changed character of vapor" is not a plus (or at least not worth an extra $90 -- DBV is $160 and SSV is $250 on their official sites).

BTW... the DBV screen isn't hard to change and even if the SSV is easier... it's not $90 easier.

Although a bigger bowl would allow for larger sessions, it's not too difficult to just load another bowl either.

... you're right.

It does ENTER the bowl more narrow than the DBV, but air has this amazing ability to dissipate very quickly so by the time the air hits the herbs it covers the whole amount contained in the bowl.

If it didn't, you'd have vaped herbs only in the center of the bowl with the SSV and have to stir the un-vaped herbs from the fringes into the middle.

... and now he knows the differences thanks to the posts of everyone in this thread.

Now he can use them to make his own decision, just the same as you and I did.

ive actually been meaning on doing a wand cleaning session, which would talk about all that as well as showing me taking the screen out and putting it back in at the end.

im not too sure if i follow your question, unless you are referring to using the ssv with the hands free slide, in which case, you just have to pay attention to how close it is to the edge of the table.
the only time i have ever used the slide myself was in that video i made, as i am not a fan of the hands free anything. i just see that(the ground glass connections) as the weakest link on a vaporizer, and in normal long term use i figure it will be the first thing to break.
