| hi all. to help give you a better understanding of the silver surfer and da buddha vaporizers, i am going to consolidate all of my pictures and all of my video links here. i will also post general and my learned knowledge of the units, if you have any questions about their function, let me know and if need be, i can shoot a quick video to answer your question in easy to see fashion. vids first- THE ONE GRAM CHALLENGE this is where i sit down in front of the camera with a gram of herbages and vaporize it as quickly as i can while offering some tips and tricks on vaping. due to google video having a size limit on their files as well as my lack of video editing skills, the video had to be chopped into segments, here is the ssv with the hands free slide the hammer test harvesting some wand hash wand hash on Vimeo and both units, with a volcano...hitting all three at the same time the triForce hit on Vimeo and the pics ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() some pics from when i went to the factory and brought the camera along da buddha a custom mouthpeice ice catcher and i think that is all of the media that i have...if i missed something, im sure ill add it to the post/thread later. now, on to the critical differences between the ssv and dbv the biggie, price. straight from the factory the buddhas run for 160 and the surfers start at 250. you can use my name(paul) as a coupon code for either unit to get a 10% discount, tho to make sure the discount goes through, i suggest calling them or sending an email confirming your order with the discount. even with the discount, some peoples budgets may be tight, and for these people, da buddha is an EXCELLENT choice, in my opinion it is less desirable to the ssv, but it is not a second rate unit compared to the rest of the market. price aside, the next noticeable difference between the two is the level of customization available with the ssv. you can get it in multiple color variants, you can have a customized wand, heater dial and heater cover. if you pay the extra dough, anything that is glass on this machine can look like whatever you tell them to blow it into. if youre not concerned with the color or the price, but still are undecided between the two, the mandatory ground glass connection that da buddha comes with may be a dealbreaker. the ground glass connection is a fitting between the glass wand and the glass heater cover. the tip of the wand fits neatly into the heater cover and holds itself in place until you remove it. some people prefer this hands free connection, whereas others see it as being unnecessary and a stressful connection that will potentially some day break. the standard ssv comes with a wand that you must hold as you place it against the heater cover and take your hit. as most hits take about 10 seconds or less, this isnt much of a burden. the silver surfer also comes with the option of the ground glass connection as well as a slide adapter seen in the video above to essentially make the standard wand "hands free." if still none of the above mattered to you, and you still wanted something that was notably different between the two units, the last thing of note is the hit delivery. because the heater cover opening for the dbv is so wide, you get a lot of air flowing straight over a large area. the ssv on the other hand has a very small opening at the tip of the heater cover. this sends a tight stream of hot air onto your bowl getting a maximum vapor to air ratio. because of this tight stream of air, you will want to make sure to stir your bowl after every few hits(more often towards the end of the bowl), making sure to get the stuff that was on the edges into the middle. after all of that, i prefer the ssv for home use, and dbv for when i need to pull over and have a vape break when in the car on a road trip. if i had to only use one tho, i would go with the surfer. a few minor things, the bowl on the ssv wand is easier to deal with, but the bowl on the dbv can hold more if you are trying to pack a large load. regardless of which one you would buy, i suggest getting a second wand. you never know when a freak accident may occur and leave your wand in shattered peices, or maybe youll choose to use one wand for strictly hash, or whatever. one wand is bad. just keep that in mind. (': they sell screens at 10 for 1.75 not bad, if you have an extra 2 dollars when ordering, it would probably be worth it to pick up the 10pack, and then search around either at your local headshop or online for any better deals, because eventually you will probably need them. cleaning your screen is a cinch, just pull it out and soak it in some iso alcohol for a couple minutes, that should wash it nice and clean. youll need to replace the screen when it gets floppy, usually at that point when you try to dig it out of the wand it will just bend or get holes poked in it.
