| Vapir Oxygen Mini Quality: The materials used in the unit’s construction seem to be of moderate quality. The unit itself and the parts included are resilient and hold together without any concern of their being leaks, cracking, etc… Craftsmanship: The unit seems to have been engineered quite well. There is obvious care in the unit’s heating efficiency as well as the user’s safety and comfort. Effectiveness: The unit uses a small heating cell to heat the chamber in which the herbs are placed. Through the convection created by the user’s own breath, heated air flows through the herbs, effectively vapourizing their active components. The Oxygen Mini performs this task simply and efficiently. However, the chamber in which the user places the herbs is quite small, which can lead to a few issues. One such issue is that if a user wishes to take a large amount of an herb, he or she must do so in small installments, lest they pack the material too much, which in turn will cause the air passing through them to burn the plant material due to the nature of its heating. The standard with vaporizers has always been that less is more; yet, when using the Oxygen Mini, a user must take much longer to experience all the active components of the herb when compared to other vaporizers or smoking. Another issue that may arise is the Oxygen Mini’s inability to truly be effective in a group setting. This is twofold: the small chamber and the small amount of time that each user must wait before the Oxygen Mini once more achieves the selected heating temperature both play into this. However, between two or three people, the unit can be quite effective. Ease of use: Operating the Mini is simple. A user sets the desired temperature, waits for a few minutes until the selected temperature is achieved, then places the finely ground herb within the chamber, closes the cap, attaches the whip and mouthpiece, and then draws in the vapour. The only difficulty is learning the most effective method in drawing the active components out of the herb. From personal experience, this was done by taking long, deep, slow breaths until the status light turned red (indicating that it must reheat for a moment to retain the selected temperature). Drawing in breath through the Mini will feel as though one is taking a draw off of a joint rolled too tightly, sadly. Although a minor annoyance, I believe it bears mentioning. Once the herb is diminished of its active components, ejecting the material is simple. This involves removing the cap, dumping out the material, and then using the small spoons or using a small burst of air to remove the remaining plant matter. The user may then either load more material into the chamber, or turn it off and let it cool before storing. Conclusion: I would heartily recommend the Vapir Oxygen Mini to anyone that wishes to have a relatively inexpensive, portable vapourizer. Although it does have some minor annoyances, it is a unit that will deliver much of what the user will likely desire from a small, portable unit. Compared to its larger, stationary counterparts, however, it is lacking in terms of its ability to deliver a large volume of vapour at once. Still, a very nice unit.
