| Here are the plans for an easy and VERY effective vaporizer: 1 Gallon glass sun tea pitcher with push button spigot on the side near the bottom. You can find these at Wal Mart for a few bucks. Some type of lamp with a 100 watt bulb and a flat surface underneath the bulb to rest the round mouth of the pitcher on. It doesnt need to be totally airtight but it does need to be closed. Tin Foil. 3/8 " clear plastic tubing. OK, The sun tea pitcher looks like a small glass version of those orange gatorade drink coolers with the spigots on them that they use in sports. Cut off the tip of the spigot with a serrated knife or small saw. This should remove the valve part of the spigot but leave a nub with a hole. Insert the hose into the hole and cut the hose to the right length. Shape a piece of tinfoil around the light bulb of your lamp and pinch a ridge around the top of the bulb to make a bowl. Make sure the foil is directly in contact with the light. As far as lamps go, the best type I have found are those contemporary looking pedestal lamps that they sell in Wal Marts (around here anyway). These have a long skinny pole with a bowl like light fixture UNDERNEATH the light bulb, and the lightbulb points to the ceiling. It kind of looks like a roman column or something. They are perfect for this though. Anyway, they are pretty tall so I unscrew the pole so that the light fixture only has one segment of the pole attached to it still. Then I pull the cord through the base of the pole so it gives me enough length to put the top section of the lamp on the ground, with the pole resting on the floor. Then, put your foil on the lightbulb, put the herb in the bowl, put the sun tea pitcher over the bowl of herb and lightbulb. It will rest perfectly on the inverted light fixture. Turn on the light and when you start seeing vapors swirl around in the pitcher inhale. Make sure you cover the hose with your finger while it fills up Also, This doesnt work like a normal pipe. You dont just take several hits and then you're stoned. Using this method you sit back and inhale the sweet vapors over and over again for about 20 minutes or more taking deep breaths. After a while of breathing the vapors it will creep up on you but it definitely gets you stoned! | |

| Hey, great idea, except for the aluminum. Aluminum give off toxic gasses when heated, so it not a good idea to be inhaling that. But, its easily remedied. Go to a craft store and get tin foil. The important part is it has to be TIN! Tin should be safe as far as I know. Great Idea, gotta try it. | |

| Vaporizors work by heating the plant material up to a point just below burning, where the THC and other cannibinoids are vaporized and captured in, normally, a dome of some sort where it is inhaled. Advantages, no burning material, no tar, and most of the harmful compounds formed by burning plant material will be avoided because the plant isn't burned. Disadvantages, I don't think all the cannibinoids are released through vaporization, although smoking bud that has already been through a vaporizor will probably not have any effect other than giving you a headache. I have never used one, but i asked a guy at a head shop and he said it is a different high altogether, more of a heady feeling than a body high. Peace.

| Vaporizers are very cool. I wish that some scientists would do more research on the subject. There are still a lot of unanswered questions on the topic. I've purchased a couple of vap's from the web and now I'm trying to build one of my own and here's a point that seems to get overlooked: make sure you're not breathing in too much hot air. If the design of the heating element also heats the entire jar/dome that is to contain the sweet vapors, then you want to add a carburetor of some sort in order to re-mix the vapors with cool air. Hot air can burn the cilia (I hope I spelled that correctly) in you lungs. Once burned, the cilia will be replaced with scar tissue. This will stay with you the rest of your life. This is one point that bothers me in regards to the light bulb approach. The light bulb, it seems, would heat up the entire iced tea jar. A carburetor would definitely help. Also, the bigger the container the better. This is certainly one good thing about the iced tea jar, they're big! This is why I prefer the kind of vaporizer that uses the inverted soldering iron. It gets very hot, but only on the tip. The rest of the air in the container stays relatively cool. The biggest problem I'm having with this type of vap is the making of a bowl. So far the best I can come up with is this: I got a brass end-cap from a hardware store and drilled a hole in the middle. Then I stuck a brass screw through the hole that feeds down into the tip of the soldering iron so that the end-cap sticks up like a bowl. Drawback: it won't hold liquid. Some people like to soak their weed in 191 proof (White Lightning or EverClear) for two to three weeks, then vaporize the resulting tincture. If you try that on the bowl I've described here, then the tincture will probably just leak out all over your heating element. Anywho, be careful out there with those vaporizers, and even smoking a joint down to the fingernails (you know what I'm talking about). Try to be aware of how hot the stuff going into your lungs is. | |

| this burning of the cillia(sp) is what will one day lead to emphazeema(spelled wrong) i believe. because the scar tissue wont allow air to get filtered or even in. peace, i neverreally thought about the temp of the smoke....i use a bong a lot with ice in it...hope that helps. | |

| Well, the first thing I did was I went to Yahooka.com and followed the links to vaporizers. The links should eventually lead you to: http://www.yahooka.com/pages/Goods_a...es/Vaporizers/ From that list you can do a little research on your own. The two I bought (and let me remind you that I'm not satisfied with either) were from vaporizer.com and the one from National Tobacco Alliance (NTA). The reason that I don't like either one is because in both cases the tube which you breath through doesn't stick up into the container area where the vapors are being held. Rather, the tube sits just below the mouth of the container. When I breathe in I just seem to stir the vapors around. I apologize for telling you what I don't like without being able to direct you to a site of a vap that I do like. But that's why I said earlier that I wish science could, or would, do more studies. With a few good engineers on the task we could build a vap that would maximize the THC intake and minimize the tar/CO intake. I'd easily pay $100 or in that ball park to improve the safety of my choice of relaxant/intoxicant. Someone mentioned that they sometimes use a bong with ice to cool the smoke. Unfortuneately, bongs also filter out a lot of the THC from the smoke. Without even realizing it, you would have to smoke more weed to get the desired effect. It turns out to be counter-productive. Bummer. I'm working on some designs for a vap based on what I've learned from buying a couple, but in the mean time I've decided that the best way is to smoke joints but not let them get much past halfway. Once I've smoke half the joint I tear it open and mix what's left with my next joint. Keep it cool, smoke that is. | |

| i made a iso (inverted soldering iron) vaporizer, and the main problem as i see it is that a lot of vapor just condenses on the insida da dome. thus, most of the THC just leaves the vapor, sorta like taking a bong hit and then letting most of the smoke wait in the chamber for like a minute before hitting it. some person talked about the dome getting too hot in these type of vaporizers, that it woudl be better if the dome was actually cooler. but, i think the best vaporizer would heat the dome as well, to the same temp as the heating thing itself, so no THC will settle out on the insides of the dome. thus, you could hold the vapor in there indefinitely, and no THC woudl settle out. to cool down the hot vapors without making the dome cool, you could just have water filtration or something, even though the water will take some of the THC out, i think it won't take out as much as the dome does on a normal ISO. plus, you could always drink the water that filters the vapors, cause unlike bong water, which is nasty to drink cause its full of tar and sheit, this water would only have THC and maybe a few tars. ****, you could drink this after your finished to get even higher. knowwhatimsayin? |
