The plant material will turn to a light to medium brown and you will notice a reduction in the vapor you exhale. Do not turn it higher after this step. You may cause the herb to catch on fire and could cause damage to your vaporizer. Hope this helps you out. Happy vaping.

I gotta tell ya, although I have no doubt that this "could happen", I've never heard of anyone heating up their bud while vaping to the point of it catching fire and ruining the vaporizer and I've read thousands of vape threads at 5 different sites.

Now I have seen when someone blew into a whip and caused a fire by scattering the bud directly on the heating element, but that's different than what you're talking about.

It's been my experience with different kinds of vapes, that you can vape your bud to a very dark brown without any danger of anything catching fire. Hell, I've over vaped my bud where it came out black with no fire.

I would think that a ruined vaporizer due to bud catching fire because of vaping at too high of a temp is a "very" rare occurrence, and quite frankly, this is the first I've ever heard of it being mentioned.

I would tend to think that this could only happen with a very poorly designed vape like those Chinese knock-offs being sold on ebay.

This has happened to people on this forum if you want to get specific. Also The op has not posted the type of vape he uses yet. Some people make vapes out of heating wands which can also cause the weed to catch on fire. Then on another thread on the forum:

I was just giving lildevilpunk8008 a warning. I was mainly referring to cherrying the weed. Not necessarily a full fire starting. No need to be so hostile.

Combustion can be fairly common for those who can raise the temperature on their vape and vape abv or whatnot at the higher temps.

Ive never combusted herb in my DBV but ABV I have. I have pushed my vape to the limits to really understand and learn about it.

The advice given is sound advice but heres what I do with my Da Buddha using crappy brick weed and coursely chopped with little scissors:
I start off with a regular size wand,
Draw X 3-5 times or until no visible vapor on exhale,
Stir,
Draw X 3-5 times or until no visible vapor on exhale,
Stir,
Draw X 3-5 times or until no visible vapor on exhale,
Stir,
Draw X 3-5 times or until no visible vapor on exhale,
"Slightly" turn up temperature, some people like this, some dont you will have to decide if you do or not. The hotter the temperature the more stuff gets vaped and that includes some of the not so good things but I look at as still being a heck of lot better than smoking and im fine with it, its to each person to decide that or not. Generally this is in the hotter range where other vaporizers that are not temperature variable are not able to reach. You have to experiment to find where you are comfortable depending on how close to combustion you are willing to go. Also keep in mind the more you vaporize the less effective your abv will be if you plan to use later on. I know some people deliberately only vape to a certain point because they like the effect from cooking with the abv later. You have to decide on that for yourself.
Crush it with fat end of marbled stir stick or dump it out and crush it up some more (not relevant if you used a grinder),
stir, this is also a good time to add any extra kief or hash if you so desire but that can also be used from the beginning, if used you get more draws and stirs cycles,
Draw X 3-5 times or until no visible vapor on exhale, adjust heat up or down as needed per bowl,
When no vapor on exhale after stirring, its done.

The most common way of combusting I believe is when someone blows into the vape.
Its pretty hard to get it to combust and ive never had it happen to be outside of when I was deliberately experimenting to see and understand it from that perspective.

Yeah I was just saying that because I try and save mine. Guess I should have mentioned that but I can be a phase head. Nothing like extracting the abv goodness making a tincture and putting it in food.
