They're just covers on the batteries. Take a pocket knife and slip the blade under the cover/wrapping on either end and just peel it off. Alkaline batteries have the same covers. Alkalines won't last any time in the LB though. They're only good for an emergency when you've just gotta have a hit or two.

I did a little research on it before I bought it, it still had me sold...

I need quick little blasts some times and this seems perfect, so I got one for $80 and volcano bags for $5...
