Vapor Buddy help!

Hello, I purchased a blue vapor buddy today from the local headshop for $70 dollars. My friend though it looked cool so he went online to see if he could get one for cheaper. He calls me in a panic screaming at me saying "Dont use your vapor buddy it could have toxic levels of lead in it!" I looked online and it seems there is a knock off version of the vapor buddy. I need to know what I was sold. One way they are different a article said was that the holes on the Authentic Vapor Buddys screen were much smaller and the knock offs were large. Could some one please direct me to pictures showing the differences just to be safe? Or tell any sure fire ways thats its legit? Thank you very much.

You got ripped off bad.

The original product is called a Vapor Genie, which you could get for $50.

The Vapor Buddy is a random patent violating Chinese company, you couldn't find them if you tried. I don't think you could pay me to use it.

I would try to return it if possible. It has been a long time since I seen the vapor buddy issue, it is possible they no longer use lead paint but I do not know nor would I trust this company.

I do recall two variations of the knock off, one is said to work right and the other is said to be pretty bad, I will see what I can find on it.

As long as there's no paint in the bowl area, you should be OK. That would eliminate paint being in the vapor path. You could also cut off a finger from a cheap latex glove and put that over the mouthpiece end. Wouldn't look very cool, but it's up to you to decide your priorities. Here's a link to a pic of the version found to contain lead. You'll notice that there's paint on the threads and at the bottom.

I agree that the safest thing to do is to not use it. Return it if possible. If you're willing to spend a little more $ with them, they may be more agreeable to taking it back.

Vapor Buddy is the knock off brand of Vapor Genie. I'd say take it back and ask for a refund.
