| Technically you don't need to grind your herbs for any vaporizer, but I've never heard anyone recommending not grinding the herb even for an herbal aire. Try grinding them up and see if you get better results, I promise you will. Don't forget to stir between bags. |

There are always exceptions to a rule, and I even hesitate to describe 'always grind' as a rule. It's just the best method for most vapes. You absolutely DO NOT GRIND for the herbalAire. In the first place it's a waste of time. The vape's design allows total penetration of herb pieces. The other reason to avoid using ground herb is that the screen mesh in the main mouthpiece is not fine enough to stop small pieces from coming through. If the mouthpiece screen wasn't as coarse, it would frequently impede airflow and require constant cleaning. As it is, the mouthpiece screen is the part that requires the most cleaning, by far. So yes, you should just break off pieces to load in the herbalAire. That's the prescribed method by the manufacturer and it's a smart design. If you have only ground herb, you should use a 2nd, fine mesh screen (like the one used in the crucible bottom) on top of the ground herb, to prevent fine particles from getting through the mouthpiece screen. I've had to do this on occasion and the results of using ground is no better than with pieces. Another vape that's the exception to the 'always grind your herb' rule is the Vapolution. It doesn't have the efficiency with pieces that the herbalAire does though. If your piece is too big you get restricted airflow and an undercooked back side to the piece, and if you load too small it can get sucked through. But unless you want to make a very tiny screen for the bowl instead of the glass dimple, you just have to take care to use pieces in the right size range. Using ground herb with just a dimple screen is wasteful and creates a mess.
