I just recieved my new Herbalaire vaporizer. Easy to use. Effective. Fast delivery. Expensive ($250) I started vaping at the recomended setting (350)F and turned it up from there. Even on the highest temp (400) no burnt weed. I put one small nug in the crucible and vaped away for about 20 minutes. The first 4-5 draws were nice and tasty with visible vapor upon exhale. Form there the flavor disapated and I didn't notice any more vapor on exhale after about 10-15 full breath draws. Is that pretty much the indicator that its spent? I have saved all my AVB just in case. For the health factor alone I am happy I made the switch to vaping. The high is diferent - still geting used to it. But I had a real nice experience after loading a bigger nug and vaping constant for like 10 minutes - got a real head rush and almost forgot what I was doing!! Can you vape stems?

Check the colour of your ABV - don't go darker than medium brown. Many (most?) people don't go any darker than light brown, and some don't even brown their weed at all. But yeah, colour is the easiest indicator of how spent your weed is.

i am lookingt at the herbalaire myself.. are you using it with the bags? keep us posted on your experience with it. i havent ever used a bag unit, and am pretty new to vaping all together (couple weeks) i have a easy vape digital wand system, and when i am done, the bud is very dark brown, and small pieces are almost black, but i am probably going to far with it.. i think you can vape stems, but u wont get as much vapor from them, but still will get some, so yeah, dont throw them all away..

Stems are much better to vape than smoke. Either way, it's best to shave the stems since the outside is where the actives are. The herbalAire is great for bags. Not so great for direct draw. Effective, but not really satisfying like a whip only design. The 18 little inlet holes that are so effective for penetrating the chunks you should use with the herbie, aren't so great via direct draw.

But the outside is where the hot air will be too. So I don't see how shaving the stems is really going to help when the ouside will be cooked first anyway. | |

It depends on how close you shave and the quality of the herb. In my experience, although it's been many years ago, it does make a difference.

Make sure you grind the herb up first. Once you take a few drags and you notice the Vapor thin out, stir the herbs in the crubible and turn up the temperature about 10 degrees F. Grinding the herb makes all the difference as there is more surface area for the hot air to go over. I like to also grind the spent herb up with my fingers, reload it, and take one last hit, seems there is always more in there.

I noticed you said "I stuck a nug in there".. You should make sure to grind your bud first man. The more surface area, the more you extract.

With a herbalaire, it is recommended that you do not grind the herb. I would cut up a few bigger pieces for it though. Solid nugs can go in there, unlike other vaporizers.
